I was wondering if anyone could help me come up with a reason he would belong to the Citadel but not completely turn on his house. My thoughts: Deneith is trying to set up good relations with the crown, and has sent him to represent them. He didn't fit in with his house, and felt more of a bond with his country. He was an orphan and was picked up off the street by a member of the Gitadel. He was training to follow in their footsteps, or live up to their name. But a new problem has arrisen as he now as the Least Mark of Sentinel has appeared on him, and he feels he should work with house aswell. |

Becoming a Citadel Elite means you have formally aligned yourself with Breland, and so are no longer neutral. This means you must have turned from the strictly neutral House Deneith and may no longer use the house name. Going the other way round, after manifesting the Mark of Senitel, House Deneith would not allow you to join the house an take their name unless you were a neutral, and left the Citadel. So really, there is no way to be a formal member of both organisations. I think the best way to go with that would be to have him leave House Deneith to join the Citadel to fight for what he believes in rather than for money, which I think would make an excellent character. |

I think you could have any Mark and still be a member of the Citadel. I think something you could not do is be affiliated with both House Deneith and the Citadel. I might keep a character from taking Favored in House, and I'd certainly include some roleplay stuff regarding the character's relationship with his house. |

There are precedents for dragonmarked members leaving or being banished from a house, notably a certain NPC in Shadows of the Last War. I doubt the dragonmarked houses like the notion much, since unaffiliated heirs are a potential threat to both the genetic and the economic monopolies that are the base of the houses' power. I would imagine that all of the houses keep a close watch on their expatriates, and that alone might make it difficult for a Citadel member with the Mark of Sentinel to keep a low profile (ignoring the problems that a house dragonmark in a visible location would create). I might allow the character in my game, but I'd feel free to make that character's life very interesting. |

I plan on allowing him to play the charecter(he decided he'd go with recently manifesting the mark and being torn). And I plan to make things interesting for him, and the party. Just one more enemy to stay on the PCs' mind. |
