Ormazd 11-29-04, 08:49 PM	So, after my party had a run-in with some ghouls and an angry cleric of Vol, the fighter is blind and the rogue/ranger is infected with ghoul fever. But, they were near Sharn so they headed into town, confident that they could find someone who would be able to help them. I, very wise DM that I am, confidently turned to ECS p. 121 and discovered that House Jorasco will do up some Remove Disease for a mere 125 gp. I also noted that, according to the table on said page, they will drop a Remove Blindness/Deafness on your sorry butt for the same price. This seemed a bit odd to me, so I looked back at the Mark of Healing and discovered that it isn't capable of Removing Blindness (or deafness, for that matter). Interestingly, Restoration is an option, but that is not listed on the price chart on p. 121. So, my question: Is Restoration supposed to be in the spot that Remove Blindness/Deafness is in on that table, and if so, shouldn't it cost more since it's a 4th level spell? Or, is the table right, and, if so, how do the Jorascos whip out the RB/D? Do they keep a couple clerics under the sleeves or what? Thanks, O
Gurv 11-29-04, 08:59 PM	Keep in mind that Jorasco uses more methods than the Mark of Healing to aid people. They have adepts on hand as well. If you think the prices are unreasonable, then raise them or lower them. In Eberron, especially in Sharn, almost anything should be possible, and if the DM thinks it should happen, available. Whether Jorasco can fix this for them is 100% dependant on whether the DM thinks it should be fixed.
Ormazd 11-29-04, 09:48 PM	Of course, I know these things...but just for the sake of argument, let's be technical for a moment: 1) Adepts can't cast RB/D (it's not on their spell list). 2) Even if an adept could cast it, I imagine it would be a heck of a lot more expensive than 125 gp. I guess what I'm saying is...I don't want to shaft my players by making something that should be reasonably accessible really hard to get a hold of. I don't mind making the fighter run around blind until he can convince the high priest of Dol Arrah to cure him, but if there's a house that will do it for money, then we can all move on. Is it a typo? or can anyone think of a better explanation? O
EvilDrPuma 11-29-04, 10:18 PM	Sorry, the ECS errata don't mention anything about remove blindness/deafness being left out of the Mark of Healing powers. You might house-rule it, and have some justification for doing so, or your fighter may just have to find a priest willing to cast the spell. I might suggest the Korranath in Sharn, if your fighter follows the Sovereign Host. Kol Korran's priests might actually do it for no more than gold...
Golbez57 11-29-04, 11:33 PM	Just because those with Dragonmarks and adepts in the employ of House Jorasco can't readily cast Remove Disease/Blindness doesn't necessarily mean that they won't make it a point to have access to that particular item through other means--potions or some other magical item or whatnot. As for the cost, I'd imagine it's a result of supply and demand... high demand (isn't sickness more common than mortal injury among most people, after all, even in a fantasy world?) and, as all the Houses are quite resourceful and well-versed and well-supplied in their specialty areas, probably ready supply. One of the heroes in our campaign is a Dragonmarked member of House Jorasco with aspirations of establishing a "branch" at their stronghold, so things like this will be interesting to explore!
