| Arcane Guyver12-04-04, 01:30 PM | Alrighty. I'm thinking of taking the wu jen and replacing the vancian spellcasting with sorcerer style, nixing the Taboos, then renaming it the Sorcerer. This makes it different from the wiz, and gives it unique spells. My question is: would this be ok, especially since Artificers can emulate their spells? Would this have any big effect on the game world? I was previously thinking of making sorcerers obsessed with runes, like Runethanes in Arcana Unearthed...which would've tied in well with those runic dragonmarks. Too much hassle, though. Any feedback is appreciated!!! |
| nyysjan12-04-04, 01:52 PM | some clarification would be in order do you mean "give casting without preparation but able to know as many spells as you want from the spell list" Nixing  (don't know the word is it take) remove the taboos? personally i see the wizard as a very balanced class altough the Sorcerer is a bit underpowered |

| Arcane Guyver12-04-04, 04:50 PM | Clarifications: I meant strip the Wu Jen of his style of learning and preparing spells (but not his spell list). Then insert the sorcerer's way of learning and preparing spells. Nixing is just a fancy way of saying removing. Taboos just don't fit the theme of the sorcerer, but Spell Secrets sure as hell do. Dragonmarks on every sorcerer, at least Abberant Dragonmarks...could be cool. I dunno, I'm still really iffy on how sorcerer's get their powers in Eberron. Which really sucks, BTW: we finally get some sorcerer-specific feats, aka Draconic feats....and they probably aren't even proper for the sweet new setting on the block. I really wish, at least from a game stand-point, the DMs would know EXACTLY where they gain their power or incite from. |
| Ramses III12-04-04, 06:09 PM | I like the Wu Jen the way he is. As far as balance goes though, I don't think you are going too far in giving your sorcerer the spell secrets. He gets the staggered spell progression for a reason though. Spontaneous casting is pretty powerful and needs a drawback to offset it. Heh. I kind of like the Sorcerer the way he is, too. |
