I'm not sure if this is the right place for this thread but here goes.

I was curious about the Eberron setting. I'm a huge fan of psionics and I really wanted to know how it was treated in this setting. I've heard many good things, but I wanted some specifics about it from people who have played a lot of this setting.

Anyway, thanks in advance.:D

It's relatively rare on the main continent Khorvaire, though it's not impossible to find any. Psionics are extremely common on the continent of Sarlona, from whence hail the Kalashtar, the new psionic PC race. Sarlona is also home to the country Riedra, which is ruled (secretly) by evil psionic outsiders called the quori. So you won't see psionics on the street corners, but there's enough room for you to go hog wild with psionic PCs or psionic BBEGs.

Ok just go to your local bookstore that carries the ECS. Eberron Campaign setting. Look in the index for Quori, Kalashtar, Riedra and Dal Quor. Then read those pages. It will probably only be necessary for you to read the section on one.

After that you will want to play. :)

And don't get misled. There were psionic traditions in Sarlona long before they had any contact with the quori. Not all psionics come from Dal Quor.

Some links (all to the WotC page) which might be of interest to you:

Psionics in Eberron (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20060925a) is an article of the Dragonshard line that should be a very good introduction to what you want to know. You might also be interested in ideas how to introduce new elements from Complete Psionics (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebee/20061023a) into Eberron.

Some more specific articles are: Blades of the Quori (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050110a), mostly about the mind-blade traditions of Kalashtar and Quori, and the two parts of Reach of Riedra - Riedra being one of the most important psionic nations on Eberron: Part One (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050808a) and Part Two (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ebds/20050822a)

Psionics are an important part of Eberron. It is not necessary, so for those who do not like it, there is no need to include it - but that entails either modifying parts, or ignoring them. IMO, it's losing a great deal of interesting opportunities.

Psionics, as has been pointed out above, is rare on Khorvaire (the continent where most stories play out), but that it is still very much part of the setting.

One aspect of Eberron is mystery and noir, so having as subtle abilities as those of a psion is very good for the story. In the ECS itself, there are the kalashtar, Riedra, the Dreaming Dark, the Daelkyr, all of which have ties to psionics. There are new psionic items for the Inspired and the Kalashtar - crystal shards which are embedded in their bodies - and which are exclusive to these races.

All this, obviously, in addition to whatever else you want to do with psionics, as there are no rules to prevent you from having a character without ties to the kalashtar, Daelkyr or Dal Quor.

As the best indicator to how great a setting it is for psionics, I confess to having been rather uninterested in psionics before Eberron came along - not for any particular reason, I just didn't get around to look into it much. Eberron changed it all. I bought the books, and now prefer psionics to "standard" magic, and am eagerly awaiting any new psionic elements in new books.

Anyway, when do we get to see something of Secrets of Sarlona, at last? :P

Thanks everyone, that really helps! I think I might need to pick up a copy of this setting.
