Howdy

I started with the D&D 1st boxes (red, blue, green, that was fun), don´t know which world that was.
Then my group played AD&D 2nd, and D&D 3rd and 3.5th and every time in the Dragonlance world setting. Everybody of us knew this world thoroughly thanks to the novels.
Then we had a adventure for a year in the Star Wars d20 universe, something good known by the movies.
Now I have decided to master a campaign in the Eberron world. I love this world, it has almost everything I wanted for an fantasy setting. We will run Forgotten Forge (already did part one, after the last Star Wars meeting) and Shadows of the Last War.
My question is, I am the only person in this group with the Campaign Setting, how do your players get the feeling of the Setting? I have tried and written a summary of 4 pages for them (the Dragonmarked Houses, general history and about the nations of the pc´s), but I´m not satisfied and think it will not give enough insight.

if you're talking about the Basic, Expert, Companion and Master sets then that world was the Known World, which was later expanded through a series of Gazeteers to become known as Mystara. Aah, happy days.
...and I'm well pleased that Eberron's brought back that gaming excitement.
Have fun with your gaming sessions - Eberron's a great place to drop your group's characters into; and you never know, the less information they have will certainly keep them on their toes; take a look at the Eberron primer that's lurking around here on this board somewhere, that'll help, then wander to JohnnyONeal's beginner's guide for more info that you could theoretically cherry pick for more info; he's also included links to several fan sites that could offer you even more, both at the gaming table and in your own DM prep time.
One thing's for sure, you're going to have a fine time.

I am lucky enough to have a bunch of mature, trustworthy players i simply lent them the Campaign Setting for a week asked them not too look at a few things and then the following week we had a chat about the setting and got down to doing some characters very straight forward really ...

Get yourself some good pulp-themed movies like Indiana Jones, 50's detective movies, lair of the golden monkey etc...
Those are some great moodsetters.
