He saids that a dragon marked house, like House Orien, has 10's of thousands of members, including those with and without actual dragon marks, excluding people who simply work for the house. I say that there are hundreds of, maybe, MAYBE a thousand or so full fledged members of a dragon marked house (again including those with and without dragon marks, excluding those who simply work for a dragon mark house) all across Korvaire. What do you all think? Your input would be most greatly appreciated, thank you. |
| TwinBahamut07-16-04, 11:51 AM | Since the book says that as many as 1 in 100 people in Khorvaire (or at least in the Five Nations) is blood related to a Dragonmarked House, and that half of those have a Dragonmark, your brother is probably closer to correct. Keith Baker broke it down somewhere that of those 1 in 200 with a Dragonmark, 1 in 10 has a Lesser Mark, 1 in 100 has a Greater Mark, and 1 in 1000 has a Siberys Mark. And the 1 in 100 number doesn't count workers hired by the House to assist in their dealings. Does that help? |

Those analogies are organizations with large memberships, even with the communications and transportation technologies available either in the 1930s or today--which have magical equivalents in Eberron, but not equivalents that are as convenient or as omnipresent. Depending on the house, the pervasiveness of its operations, and the scale of its products and services, a membership from ten thousand to several tens of thousands seems reasonable to me. |
