Can't seem to find the answer in the CSB, but if anyone knows how many 'trains' travel the Lightning Rail...?
I'd imagined large elemental-powered shunting yards operating in Fairhaven, Sharn and the larger cities...though the CSB seems to indicate that there is only one train, known as 'the lightning rail'. What does everyone else think of this? Seems to me that it's an awful lot of effort to create a link and then only have one vehicle running along it...

Wow, my very first post. Gonna cut and paste some stuff from Mr Baker in his question thread that seems to adress this question.

My belief is that it is possible for two trains to pass -- that the field can temporarily widen to support two vehicles, as long as they move quickly. There are a variety of small rail-jumper vehicles as well, and if one of these could block the track it would be problematic.

2. Roughly how many lightning rail coaches are there? A handful? Dozens? More on one side of the east/west disconnect (mournland and broken bridge) than the other?[/B]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'd probably say dozens, but less than a hundred. Orien uses it for long-distance post and freight, and if you can assume that you can catch a coach at least twice a day in the major cities, it would add up. With the break between east and west, I'd say most are concentrated to the west.

3. How often do they run? Say I'm in Fairhaven and want to ride to Sharn, can I hop a rail coach today or might I have to wait a few days? Does this vary on location a bit, based on how much trade and travel there actually is between two locations? [/B]

In my campaign, you never have to wait more than 12 hours.

4. Do you have to switch trains at some stops? Like there's one train that goes back and forth from Thaliost to Fairhaven, another for Fairhaven to Passage, and another from Passage into Breland? [/B]

That seems quite possible.
