Simple yet broad question...how many Warforged were made? Any guestimate at number? and more importantly how many were made for non-combat roles...the Warforged Expert at things such as construction, etc...I'm looking for ANY numbers at all @_@

Also, whats the likelyhood there's a decent number of WF lying inert in the Mournland until something comes along and eats/fixes them?

This number could be almost anything. Almost every nation was building warforged, so it could easily range from a few thousand to a few hundred thousand. When it comes down to it, if I needed a number for my games I would say 300,000, that way there are enough built that it would make sense for the players to be one. That, and as far as I know there are still Warforged being made by other Warforged.

Plenty likely, actually. Quite a few times my players have come across the Warforged Chef, or Warforged Librarian and many more. They were considerably more efficient than having a humanoid source, and I would assume those that did it as slaves during the Last War would go through the same debate as any other forged. The war is over, I am not a slave, do I really need to keep doing this or is there more for me? One concept I have as a player is two start as a Warforged Expert at first level. This is to explain that the warforged was not built for combat, but instead was used as a records clerk.

Kinda runs contrary to the entire idea behind the Warforged, doesn't it?

Xalt even says as much in the second Lost Mark book (paraphrasing here...): "even non-combat Warforged have some skill and training as a solider."

I remember Keith saying at one point that the Warforged, in general, are pretty exceptional. Where your "average" infantryman during the Last War was a Warrior 1, your "average" frontline Warforged was a Fighter 2.

The entire point of the Warforged was to create the perfect soldier, not the perfect clerk or the perfect librarian. There is no question that the process of producing Warforged themselves -to speak nothing of the costs spent on the network to support them and the time and money spent developing them- is expensive, and that expense would be largely wasted on a Warforged who wasn't fulfilling a war-related role of some sort. Even Domo, Cannith South's watchdog, built to impress, likely had just as much function as he did form -and probably the Barbarian levels to back it up, too.

Moving on...

We know that, though Cyre had the largest contingent and Karrnath the smallest, all of the Five Nations used Warforged at some point. We know that a suspected thousand-odd of them have declared for the Lord of Blades and occupy the Mournland, but we also know that other warforged, while aware of this movement, mostly consider the followers of the LoBster to be a tiny and fanatical minority.

Given that and the amount of wartime-years spent producing Warforged all across the Five Nations, I would say that a grand total somewhere close to 500,000 have been produced, with perhaps 250,000 of those still active and another 50,000 inert, offline, or otherwise incapacitated in the Mournland or elsewhere.

Common enough that most everyone knows that they exist, and a good part of the population has seen them, but still few enough that some of the more backwater places might know of them only as rumor, if at all. I can definitely see some extremely out-of-the-way town having never even heard of the Warforged, particularly some of the more isolationist Reacher communities furthest from central Khorvaire.

To each their own, right? In the long run you are right about the combat training, so maybe it would make more sense to start with a warrior level and go from there.

I would say that the answer to how many warforged were created is the same answer to how many angels can dance on the head of a pin.

As many as wanted or as needed.
