i'm really interested in including Mortal Kombat's Scorpion character in my Eberron campaign as a spy/guild member type ----- i'm trying to figure out a way of fusing all of Scorpion's traits into one logical NPC

he's dead/undead -- how would this be converted?

what feats/skills/traits would you suggest i include??

would his spear attack move be magical? or some kind of martial weapon perhaps...

any advice would be enthusiastically accepted!

Actually, in the games, Scorpion is a tormented soul with demonic powers, I'd actually make him a Fiendish human, and forget about the undead part. He still bleeds, for example.

A high level monk is obvious, and I believe Arms & Equipment had a harpoon that you could attatch a rope to and essentially spear the enemy and drag them closer, sounds like a good approximation for Scorpion's spear to me.

But to keep from having to run around with all sorts of books everywhere, I'd say stat it up as a +2 Throwing/Returning Javelin with adamantine wire that, when it hits, forces the target to make a save or be Paralyzed, at which point he cranks 'em in to wail on them.

Maybe take a page from Spellstoring weapons.
Use the mechanics for a spellstoring weapon (aka it stores a spell until it crits, or hits with a natural 20, can't remember which one it is off the top of my head), with a Hold Person spell stored in it.

Normal hits do damage, but they don't lodge into them enough to stun 'em. On that crit/20 it sticks in, releases the Hold Person spell, and they're stuck tight. Long as its an NPC, just say that it never has to be recharged (aka you don't have to cast a new Hold Person into it every time you use it).

Otherwise split his levels between fighter and monk, to reflect both his ninja sword and martial arts abilities. For the flaming kick thing, I dunno. Maybe magic boots?

First up, there's already a feat in the ECS that lets a monk treat the longsword as a monk weapon, so that covers that aspect.

And second, the sword and the flaming kick thing aren't in all of the games. The sword didn't appear until Mortal Kombat 4 (where everybody had a weapon for the first time), and it didn't really become part of his character until Deadly Alliance/Deception. So its not necissary to emulate everything he has ever done in every game in order to have him as an NPC, you only need to hit the high points. And really, there is only one thing that defines Scorpion. His spear. And, to a lesser extent, his ability to breath fire as an attack/fatality.

So really, as long as you have him being really good at hand to hand combat, and he has a spear that reels you in and leaves you stunned/paralyzed/held, you've got Scorpion.

Just to further expand on that thought, you don't really have to worry about making the flaming breath fatality an innate ability or anything. If you have the poor sucker speared and paralyzed in front of you, just take a moment to pull that potion of fire breath out of your belt pouch and then let loose.

Take a look at Magic of Eberron.

Two words: grappling vine.

Hm. If I recall he pulls the thing out of his hand (at least, he does in the movie?). Anyway, would his weapon fit in glove of storing? That'd be nice flavour. And suprising.

Also yeah, the grappling vine. Modded to be some sort of chain.

...

Woah. I can actually imagine Scorpion being a Kyton, but that's probably overdoing it. Certinally fits the tormented demon soul thing.

(GET OVER HERE! )

Hm. If I recall he pulls the thing out of his hand (at least, he does in the movie?).Yeah, that was just in the movie.
In all the latest games (Deadly Alliance and Deception), he keeps his spear on his belt along with a coil of rope, and he actually takes it off his belt to throw it.
