I admit it, I warmed to Eberron [Archive] - Wizards Community

For the most part, I'm a conservative "medieval fantasy" gamer, solidly grounded in worlds such as Forgotten Realms, Middle Earth, etc, though I also enjoy some oddities like Dark Sun and Planescape. For a while I was pretty suspicious about Eberron, I disliked how it seemed to have magic-powered trains and other way too "modern" stuff.

But now I've begun reading the available snippets (on the web, sadly I don't have a Dragon subscription), and I admit I'm warming to the setting. :embarrass :D It does look pretty interesting to DM and play in (I'm my group's DM, normally), and it looks like it's far more accomodating for the "weird" characters you so often see in other settings. :D I plan to get the core book when it comes out and start persuading my players to give it a try. ;)

I agree Eberron has open arms for "wierd".

(Ever read one of stone_dog's postings?)

But seriously, with 3.0 and 3.5, there are things we've seen in the core books that just don't gel with the Forgotten Realms / Greyhawk quasi-historical/fantasy vision.

Ever seen a Wayne Reynolds picture? That guy's influences come more from Metal Gear Solid and comic books than the local renaissance faire.
