| Dawn_of_an_Age02-13-07, 02:58 PM | I need help coming up with a back-story for one of my PC's. I will give you what I have thus far which isn’t much. I have come up with the "what", but I am having EXTREME difficulty with the "how", and "why". So here goes: What: A displaced Cyran who served as his uncles (A Knight of Cyre) squire during the "Last War". His family was once "Noble"; and among the aristocracy of Cyre. Both he and his uncle served honorably in the Last War, and escaped the "Day of Mourning" due to a number of instances. (In brief, when the Mourning took place they were at the front of a major Cyran offensive to push a would be usurper back across the Cyran border and out of their lands. At a pinnacle moment during the battle the Mourning takes place, but as it does, time completely stops, only the PC and his uncle are not affected by this flux in time, and though the progression of the dead gray mist are not stopped completely like everything else it is slowed down drastically; imagine the Mourning happening in slow motion. At any rate it gives them just enough time to cross the Cyran border themselves before the time flux ceases and the wall of Dead gray Mists slams against the Cyran border like a mighty Tsunami stopped only by some seemingly invisible wall of force.) The PC wakes up as if from a dream in front of the fireplace in his uncles home thinking about how he will never forget that day and at the same time recalling his days chores to be done. It is actually 3 years later PC's story picks up here. Fast forward to a tragic event which removes the uncle from the story. The uncle leaves a Will to his nephew making him the sole heir of his estate, which the PC didn’t even know existed until now. He is also in the Will bestowed his Knighthood, and informed that he is of noble birth. That’s what I have so far. Why and how did his family lose it's noble status?; so completely that even that the PC was unaware that it ever existed. And how and why is it now able to be restored at the time of his uncles "passing" or exit from the story if you will? (I may bring him back not sure yet.) |

Maybe the uncle was ashamed of his nobility for some reason, and so shunned his family power and estate, but desired the PC to make his own decision. |

If he was raised as a noble he would have all those handy noble skills. Like talking to people. That would allow him to get an action packed post as a Diplomatic envoy. No, I'm really not being sarcastic. Like being tricked by Queen Aurala into slipping some deathblade into King Kaius the thirds glass of wine. (Yes I know, but she doesn't) But there is New Cyre, the last dwindling bastion of the once mighty nation of Cyre. I'm sure they could stand to pick-up a Knight. Start him off protecting a few New Cyran farms from some ravanging monsters, then clearing out an old Fort where the monsters came from, that it winds out New Cyre really needs. Then you can start into missions into the Mournland to reclaim artifacts, information and perhaps even reclaim a small part of the lost nation... Thats really all I have. |
