After months of patience and a few weeks of waiting I received the Eberron-CSB and Sharn: City of towers :cloud9: :cloud9:

Along with a few other goodies :)

The only thing I have left to do is to cast "Greater Book Protection" (Material focus: Self or Parent, Material component: Protective plastic :D)

And my friend and I have decided to use a 2-DM system to streamline the flow of the game and planning. :thinks:

I bought my Sharn: City of Towers last monday, took the CD out, and gift-wrapped the book. I then labeled it "From Mikko {that's me} to Mikko {also me}" and asked my parents to hide it until christmas.

I must be some kind of a masochist or something. :banghead:

EDIT: And just for the record, I didn't take one single sneak peek inside the book.

WOW. Now thats self control. :mymy:

I just got mine today. I heard the UPS guy knock at 11:00am, and I woke up and flew out of bed and to the door under under 2 seconds. It's a good day.

I made the mistake of putting Sharn on my list for the gift exchange we do with my mother's side of the family each year.

It turns out that my aunt ended up drawing my name from the "hat" this time around, and being a big Amazon.com buff, she ordered it from there. From what my mom told me, my aunt had it sent directly to my house. From what my friends have told me... Amazon is VERY late in shipping this book.

Gurrrr!

So, while I continue to visit my local bookstore in the hopes that it will show up there, I've been coming home each day for the past couple weeks hoping to find it on my doorstep. No luck on either count so far.

What's a DM to do in the meantime?

Oh, yeah... visit these boards and prepare to drop the heroes into the Frostfell for a bit, that'll do it!

Glad you've got your goodies, Joni-san! Enjoy 'em!

I haveto congratulate you there TWS, I could never manage such a feat!
Although I might hold off with the Sharn book unitl my birthday...lets see...it is due to be dispatched in around a week, and my birthday is on the 4th.
It'll be tough, but I think I can manage those 2-3 days.

I bought it today. I shouldn't have, as I can't afford it. I'll just have to direct the bill collectors to Keith. Its all his fault you know.

That said, it is incredible, and more than worth screening my phone calls for the next month. The detail it goes into! And like the ECS, every piece of it is interesting, useful, and uniquely flavorful. IMHO neither book has a bland paragraph or the kind of meaningless fill-text you would expect from a world or city guide.

This is why your local hobby shop is a great place to buy books! I got a call from mine the day it went on sale.

Cheers,

I've decided to actually put into my character concept:

Max ranks in Knowledge(Sharn) just so my character can actually know some of the things that the book talks about.

Soooo much good stuff in there. And it's all exciting to read.

Anyone else feel like they are reading a novel already; when going through the pages?

Eberron gives you so much to play/DM off of; yet it's almost like a cliffhanger involving some subjects.

Lol; I almost want to email WotC and beg and plead for them to make a movie out of this---finally, a GOOD D&D Movie

Let's see....Sharn's history alone could be a trilogy to surpass Star Wars I-III; and probably come real darn close to IV-VI

Another movie; Vol. Another; Silver Flame's lycanthrope extermination...another...another; argh....

Keith needs to be augmented with another 20 arms; cause I sure as heck can't get enough of what's coming out of that man's head (and his corresponding team of writers involved)

When my local hobby shop can match the prices that Overstock.com and Amazon.com sells the books at, then I will buy from there. Otherwise I just ordered my Sharn book.

I got mine yesterday. After waiting half the month for Amazon to get their act together I finally ditched them and bought from <shudder> Walmart </shudder>. Oh well. They delivered fast.

And I've only gon through 10 pages or so, but so far I'm loving every minute of it.

Well it is important to remember that Amazon is forced to wait 2-3 weeks past street date before they can sell WotC books.

Whoa, Overstock.com has some good deals. I paid $30 for the Sharn book from a hobby shop. How quickly does Overstock.com typically ship out purchases?

They ship every bit as quick as Amazon does in my experience. They don't carry many of the DnD books, but most of the major ones like the core books and a few others they do. Their prices usually are better than Amazons too.
