I read through the book. Wow! Very broken rule add ins, but the world is nicely detailed and they include a lot of material in the main book (Much more then other Campaign guides that make you have to buy the source books to get a good complete picture of the world). It seems to me it's D20 Exalted almost with the Hero Points and uber feats and such. They got a real case of Rift-one-up-ness at Wizards (or in the D20 matket in general), where every new book or supplement has to have more powerful contents in it then previous books.

As the GM I will work to make sure this won't happen. I really like the book, B+!

Just out of curiousity, what do you consider "very broken"?

Do I detect a hint of passive agressiveness, or is it just me?

Since this is the first book in the Eberron setting, and the highest level NPC is a 18th level Druid, I'm not seeing the "Rifts" connection... and it's certainly nothing like the silliness that is "Exalted".

Uber feats? The only particularly powerful feat in the Eberron CSB that I can think of is Raging Luck, which basically gives a barbarian a +1d6 to one roll whenever they're raging. That's pretty good, but an average +3 on one roll during a rage isn't what I'd call game-breaking.

Compared to the FRCS, for example, there are no feats that are like existing PHB feats but better. In general, the feats provide interesting new options, like lifting multiclass restrictions for monks and paladins, or granting druids access to a "domain," but I really don't think the feats are overpowered.

If you're talking about dragonmarks, I couldn't disagree more. You do realize that you get only one spell-like ability from each, right? And that unless you take levels in a PrC (levels you could have spent learning actual spells), all but the wimpiest are available only once a day? They're neat flavor items, but honestly, they're something no min-maxing munchkin would ever take. I've played with a ton of different character concepts in preparation for my first games, and the dragonmarks don't make the cut on any "optimized"-type characters.

Have you tried playing with Action Points? In my experience, they don't upset the balance at all. They're an in-game way to let the player participate in something every good DM does: "fudging rolls" to give charaters a boost in final conflicts and keep them from dying for stupid reasons. Most characters only use one or two per session, and they've only added to the drama in games I've played.

You lost me on the broken rule add ins and the Exalted crap... and RIFTS?!? WTF?

What rule is broken specifically?

Exalted? Hero Points work NOTHING like stunt dice... stunt dice are bonuses for describing an uber-ccol action and hero points are something you have to decide to use and you get a limited amount of them every level... Stunt Dice are meant to encourage active and descriptive roleplaying whereas Action Points are there to give you an edge in dramatic situations... not that much in common at all.

The rifts thing lost me... Eberron isn't all about Mega-damage and unbalanced crap. Yes, Eberron has some nice add ons but nothing like Mega-damage or other Palladium nonsense. As to the D20 Market and this rifts thing... WTF are you talking about?

Yeah, I'm gonna have to agree with all these replies... and I DO sense a whole Lightning Rail Car full of passive-agressiveness.

I can't really find anything unbalancing here, this book was designed, for the most part, with just the core rules in mind. Maybe if you combine some things in it with other, non-standard, rules, it could get over-powered; but the book as it stands is totally acceptable.

To put it bluntly, what are you talking about?
