| Bubba33309-02-04, 12:31 AM | Ok, I got it and it looks great! I bought it for ideas/things to add to my Eberron games. I LOVE the Mage Hunter, Rifleman and Second-Story Man. As far as steamjacks go I was thinking that they're much "crappier" than warforged and warforged titans (the former are steam-powered and very limited compared to warforged). After all, isn't magic-powered better? So, why use them? Well, since the creation forges are "destroyed" (wink, wink!) some other tech makes sense. Kinda' like warforged for the common man. Keep in mind I only skimmed through the book so I'm making wild conjectures. This really adds to my ideas of adding Thief to Eberron. Thanks to all who recommended the book. It's funny that I was asked, "If Eberron's so good, why add anything?". I replied, "It's so good because it inspires me in so many ways!" That to me is what makes a great RPG. BTW, is it cool to pimp another setting as long as it's D20 and relevant in some way? Don't want to step on any toes! (And how much does WotC get when we buy OGL books?) 'Nuff said! |

I am a new DM after all! BTW, look at page 135 under "Class Features" in the "Weapons and Armor Proficiency" section. What's meant by "With the exception of Make Tools and Exotic Weapon Proficiencies, a second-story man cannot use his class abilities while wearing armor heavier than light." They don't have any ability called "Make Tools" and Exotic Weapon Proficiency isn't a bonus Feat. Any clue? |

How cool is the Monsternomicon? Is it 3.5? Info man, INFO!!! :D |

| Minister_for_Moral_Truth09-03-04, 04:45 PM | It's a 3.0 book, and well out of print. I don't have it (i'm from the North of Scotland. I had to go to Amazon to get the freling PHB for heavens' sake, and I don'th think it made it over the pond in any case), but from those who have it it is rather nifty. Fewer entries than most, but much on the detail. One of the main reasons that the 'Jacks are used in the Iron Kingdoms is that magic over there is a bit harder on the ol' soul and walet - doubbling of all magic item base prices, for example - so the residents ahve been working on ways to get the technology to take the sting out of things... They've also got rather a nice forum: http://forums.privateerpress.com//index.php?act=SC&c=5 |
