I've been playing FF6 and Command and Conquest lately and I got an idea for the dragons shards and what they are.

Long ago the 3 dragons of the world were infected with a magical virus that will someday kill them. Now being uber-gods there would be no way to kill them all at once but instead it had to happen over a long period of time, by slowly wearing down there essence and trapping it. The virus does this by cystaling it's self around a part of the dragon's essence and then braking away forming a dragonshard. This lose of them selfs have caused the dragons to go into a deep slumber from which unless measures are taken they will never awake from. There is a bright spot however, the divine essence of the dragon gods slowly regenerates this means that the infection is not truly fatal and a full recoverly could be made if the virus could be stopped.
Dragonmarks are a form of mutation whic occures thanks to long term exposer to dragonshard energys. Thought it occures in each race differnt the marks are but the first sign of more mutations to come.

The halflings with white jackets from House Ghallandra take you away. Roll a new theory AND character.
