| darkdragonk06-25-07, 08:48 PM | Ok so i'm thinking about a new campaign in Ebberon. I need an idea for a first adventure. I don't really like the adventure in the back. I'de prefer it to be something reletivly rail-roadable because my players tend to do stupid things with freedom, but not so much because then my players tend to catch on and say , "what if I dont want to?". They've already expressed a not want for dungeons, or any "so and so hires you to do this". I'm considering forcing them in to some form of affiliation. (as a side note, would it be illegal if I where to put ebberon info onto a website (myown) for my players to consult as they don't have ECS) Thanks in advance:) |

| Kaodi06-25-07, 10:52 PM | You could start with them having just grabbed the treasure, or McGuffin, and then have the bad guys start showing up so they have to fight their way out instead of in. |
| kentonblack06-26-07, 12:21 AM | Ive always liked the idea of a 180 thrown at the players.Starting them off in the treasure room and having them fight out, now thats genius. |
| Kensan_Oni06-26-07, 02:42 AM | There is always the mistaken identity ploy. One of the players just happens look like someone important, and (Insert your favorite Power Group Here) tries to assaniate him. Meanwhile, the real person, and a couple of changeling duplicates are running around town preparing to do a real heist, which only complicates matters. Not only is this other group trying to kill the party, but the real criminal organization is getting ready to do the real deed, and the law won't step in to interfere, and actively try to arrest the players until they catch the real culprit! If that's not a railroad, I don't know what is. |
| Amaril06-26-07, 06:55 AM | (as a side note, would it be illegal if I where to put ebberon info onto a website (myown) for my players to consult as they don't have ECS)Play it safe and use something like Google Docs to share information privately rather than publish it to the world. Plus they can then save it as a PDF, word DOC, or HTM file,or print it directly. |
| Escef06-26-07, 10:08 AM | You could start them off against orcs. Maybe an Orc with pets. Then have it lead on to a massive orc uprising, their goal being to turn the Shadow Marches into an actual political entity. I did this myself, even borrowed the Orogs from Sons of Gruumsh. (Yeah, restatting that hammer to a Byeshk weapon was a natural.) My players ended up fleeing the area, then took a trip to Xen'drik. When they got back they were mixed up with a smuggled artifact. They were framed for blowing up an airship and a few murders and are now about to finally clear themselves. After that... We'll see what happens. |
| Ironhandjack06-27-07, 10:51 AM | I like the idea of sticking them in the middle of the Last War as soldiers, its easy to get them engaged in event based action by having superiors ask or order them to take up certain missions and if they attempt to flee the service then it becomes an adventure of them trying to elude the MPs and they could get into all sorts of trouble / adventure from there as they seek allies to help them hide. |
| maollelujah06-27-07, 12:14 PM | The PCs are travelling to Wroat and the stop at a village (Sondenn). The village is a day away from Wroat on a tributary of the Howling River. There is a large bridge that crosses the river, which is closed at night to force travellers to stay in the village. Now the village has a number of nice inns, as the pcs travel down the main street they can see a number of fine carriages and see a crowd of well-dressed travellers. They also notice someone who seems to be spying on the one of the travellers. Later they spot the same person at the bar/common rooms of one of the nice inns. Enter <I used Corianna ir'Tain> which seems to catch the interest of the watcher. Later when Corianna leaves and heads to her room, the watcher leaves moments later hastily into lobby (where the stairs are located). Seconds later the sound of armor rings from the lobby and screams. In the common room doorways appear several Karrnathi Zombies who are to keep anyone from the common room (i.e. PCs) to come to the help of the noble (who is being kidnapped by the Emerald Claw.) The ECs plan is to capture Corianna lower her down to the street below where there is a troop of horsemen that take the Corianna to the bridge which has been captured by a force of zombies and skeletons. Once across the bridge they ride of into the darkness with a small group spliting off the main party with the real Corianna and heading towards a secret base near Wroat. The main party moves towards Karrnath slowly with the imposter Corianna to allow the imposter to be rescued and resume her place at the Court. * The noble's family will offer a reward to help intice the PCs to try to rescue Corianna. |
