| Buffetassassin06-26-04, 11:13 PM | This thread is just for ideas. I have read a lot of threads, and a lot of people have really cool ideas to flesh out Eberron with their own places. So I have a request. Do you have any cool ideas for people, places or things in Fairhaven? There is not much described heavily in Fairhaven, and it isn't a Sharn with a sourcebook on the way... So I would love to get some ideas to throw places into my game! Go NUTS! Thanks in advance! :D |

Fairhaven Skyport, situated on the city's southern outskirts, is a massive hexagonal building around a large central courtyard area. Each 'face' of the hexagon is a separate terminal, leading to its own docking pylon in the central courtyard. Four of these are passenger terminals, with limited cargo facilities. The fifth is a commercial freight shipping terminal. Finally, the sixth terminal also handles freight, but is primarily a maintenance terminal. Instead of a docking pylon, this terminal features a Skydock, a massive platform whose top can be configured to cradle and support the hull of an airship without touching the elemental ring, allowing the airship to be parked with its elemental ring deactivated, for repair or maintenance purposes. It is from this platform that many of House Lyrandar's new airships are officially launched into service after they complete their sky-trials over Stormhome. Thanks to House Lyrandar's connections with Aundair's royal family, such launching ceremonies are often lavish affairs which attract members of noble families and Dragonmarked Houses alike. |

However, the fear of besiegement among the Fairhaven elite manifested itself in the creation of hedge mazes and befuddling gardens. These plant-based defences were enhanced magically to produce confusing, even deadly, effects, such as a maze being much larger on the inside than one would expect from the outside. The petals of magebread Scintillating Rosebuds sparkle and dazzle viewers, even as horrid carnivorous vines entangle their ankles! Now that the war is over, some of the estate owners have opened their mystical gardens to the eager public -- minus the man-eating plants, of course! |
| The Fireballed Mage02-20-05, 10:27 PM | As Fairhaven was the captial of the whole of Aundair back while the Eldeen Reaches were still part of that kingdom, one of the most wonderous sights in the city is the Galifar Gardens. A magnificent multi-storey structure, it was built by great Aundairian masons and had its many environments filled with rare and beautiful plants brought in by subjects who lived in the Reaches. It was a great structure filled with life and the wonders of nature. It became the place to make a marriage proposal in all of the Five Kingdoms. Unfortunately, this magnificent structure did not handle the Last War very well. The loss of the Eldeen Reaches in 958 resulted in many species of plants not being renewed and dying out. The loss of many of the unique flora that had once made the Gardens so beautiful was a great loss to Aundair pride. Worse, a covert strike team of warforged from Breyland attempted to steal some information from the University of Wynarn in 991. The attempt failed, and the unit retreated into the Gardens where they used their extensive combat magic and self-sufficient nature to hold off all attacks for nearly a month. Eventually the Aundairian Royal Guard with heavy magic support stormed the place, destroying the warforged unit but inflicting serious damage to the building. Today, the Gardens are shunned as a reminder of the horrors of the Last War and what Aundair lost. There is a move amongst some to repair the Gardens, but most feel without plants from the traitorous Eldeen Reaches, the Gardens would just be a hollow mockery. Depending on who you talk to, the site is haunted either by jilted lovers who had been wooed while in the Gardens, or by the remains of warforged unit destroyed there. Some even say the mighty magics used to recapture the Gardens affected some rare seeds that had long laid dormant in the soil, mutating them and creating monstrosities. |
| RoastSlinky02-21-05, 03:01 AM | Durdan's Pies A common sight outside the Royal Court is Durdan's flash, brightly-lit pie cart, surrounded by a horde of hungry Aundairan officials, servants and guardst. Durdan (N Khoravar Exp4) cooks delicious traditional Aundairan pies, and also serves fruit juices, a considerate thought for Royal workers forbidden from drinking alcohol on duty. His pies are popular enough that Fairhaven slang for someone working at the Court is a "pie eater". Many people say he knows more about the Court than the Queen herself. What most don't know is that, in fact, that may be entirely true. Durdan is the center of a small spy network inside the court, consisting of maybe 20 individuals, guards, courtiers, and officials. Secrets of the Royal Court may be sold to anyone. Durdan is beholden to no-one except his agents, and any threat to them is something he'll deal with immediately. |
