| TerasMagx08-15-04, 03:17 PM | I have recently purchased "The Lost City of Barakus" by Necromancers Games. I like the module enough to want to run it, and I am enthusiastic about Eberon enough to want to use it as the background for my game. The question is where do I set the campaign? As it stands the main city is Called EndHome, (this could be replaced by another city of about its size, of course if needed.) The City is situated on the western coast at the crossroads of 2 major trade roads (one heading west to the coast and the other north and south following the coast. To the South and east are farm lands, north of the city is a large forest and north of the forest is a large mountain range. Any ideas for a place in Eberon I can find that is anywhere close to this? The city is Large (35k citizens) of which 80% are human. Thanks for the help. |

Wroat: Metropolis 80,870. A little bigger than what you wanted, but about as close as I could find. To the west is the Dragon River which leads to the ocean. To the north is Woodhelm (forest) and further north is the Blackcaps (mountains). It's on both a Lightning Rail line and an Orien Trade Route, so there are your two major trade roads. But to the south and east are also forests, not farmland. That's about the closest match I can find at the moment. Could you perhaps provide me with just what you need for encounters? That might help me find something a bit better. Cheers, Save vs DM |

The city listed in the book is set as the 'largest trading city in the world' as well as housing one of the most prestigious mage-academys. All of that can be shifted about a bit, of course. Having gone through the rest of the module I have a bit more information I can run with and provide to help with ideas. The city does not have to have the lay out I described specifically (i.e., mountains and forest to the north, farmland otherwise) It does need to have close access to both (Wroat worked for this for example.) The adventure revolves around the Lost City of Barakus, an underground human city known for its great advances in magic. The city is old enough to not be common knowledge. (the book lists information about it at dc 20-25, bardic knowledge only. Though with magic being so prevalent in Eberon I think I will lower the dc a bit and allow those with knowledge arcane and history to learn of it as well.) The lost city will need to be pre-Galifar, and I may need to make it a goblin city to fit into Khorvaire's past. All right with that said. The module is more then just a dungeon crawl as it provides a number of in city and in wilderness side-adventures to follow. As far as the city goes this means that It needs to have a Port, it needs to have a sewer, it needs to have some credited school of magic tied too it,(My assuming a side branch of a bigger school based elsewhere would work for this.) And it needs to be a place of commerce. Racial divisions and the like can be looked over as I'm trying to craft the campaign into Eberon. This should work out rather well as one of the side adventures has an evil cleric masquerading as a good cleric in order to gather homeless people and sell them as slaves. Eberon makes this even more of a twist as I can use a corrupted priest. I hope this has helped? And even if everyone who might glance this way is as stuck as I am, I thank you for your interest and thanks for the help from the above post. |
