| Joni-san01-11-05, 01:09 PM | What do you think you'd be if you were transported to Eberron? We shall assume that after a transformation you undergo you are not necessarily human (or of the same gender). You also have a "heroic" character and the skills that go with it. Try to motivate your choices. Example: Joni-san, male Shifter Monk. I chose Shifter because of very hairy arms and because I had sideburns. I chose Monk because that's what I would train as if I were a D&D character (that and Enlightment sounds nice) Anyone else interested in sharing? |
| xanthus01-11-05, 01:52 PM | Hmm... I'd like to say I'd be of the mindset to either become a Valenar Ranger who's skilled with a double-scimitar or a Kalashtar soulknife. The Valenar people are very appealing to my senses and I could really dig their way of life. The Kalashtar also are an intriguing people and their battles and struggles would be something I would wish to get in on. Soulknives with leanings towards multiclassing to kineticist and elocator or war mind would be things I'd be into. -X |
| greatmonkey01-11-05, 02:16 PM | good idea, I think I'd be a half-elf rogue/sorcerer or rogue/warlock. with skill focus (bluff) and persuasive of course. Be the type that could sell you your own shirt and in the fine print of the contract make you my slave for one year and a day... hehe. I have the uncanny ability to make people believe whatever I want. I mean, is it just me or is humanity extreemly gullable?? |
| Altaris01-11-05, 02:17 PM | That's an interesting question: I believe I'd be a Dhakaani Hobgoblin Samurai. A warrior serving his master with loyalty and honor, praising the ancestors and working to reforge the shadows of the past into the light of the future. |
| The White Sorcerer01-11-05, 02:48 PM | A Medani half-elf Citadel elite/master inquisitive. Why? Because I like Breland and King Boranel. Long live the king! :king:  |
| Selkie_Guardian01-11-05, 02:48 PM | I think i'd be a half elf wisard. Im' quite achademic, live on the outskirts of society and always seem to be having to sort out arguments between my freinds. |
| m15a01-11-05, 02:57 PM | m15a - male human artificer 2. can't think of a better race for me, so i'm defaulting to human. i'm an engineer, and if i were in eberron, i'm sure i'd gravitate towards the workings of magic. and level 2 because that masters degree has gotta count for *something*. :) oh yeah, and i'd be from sharn or at least end up there, since i'm a city person. or maybe i'm a gnome at heart . . . |
| Flame_Drake01-11-05, 03:04 PM | Either a kalashtar Tashalantora or Jilashtora; or a human gatekeeper or WotW. Any would have the Education feat favoring Know (arcane) and (nature). |
| Golbez5701-11-05, 03:29 PM | Kyle the Changeling Expert 1. I'm adaptable, and do notice myself 'changing character' dramatically depending on the company that I'm in--after a short while, I even start to take on the accents of those speaking around me. As far as the Expert level, I'm relatively well-educated and skillful in carrying out my given tasks, but at a measly 28 years of age, I have no illusions of being "experienced"! As far as Skills go, I guess it'd be Diplomacy, Gather Information, Perform (storytelling), Profession (teacher), Knowledge (local), Knowledge (history), Handle Animal, and Search. Yeah, no STR/DEX/CON skills; I'm in good shape and health, but a non-athlete. Watch out for when I start getting Rogue levels, world! :smirk: |
| Ramses III01-11-05, 04:54 PM | Gnome Bard, going into Master Inquisitive. I'm very curious and love to learn new things, and like a bard I tend to know a little about everything. My perform skills would be Oratory and Acting rather than music. I'm also pretty practiced at stealth, and I love puzzles and problem-solving exercises. Mind, that's not the PC I want to play; I want to play a human wizard who works for and is marrying into House Orien :D (and is working on stealing the secrets of Elemental Binding from Zilargo for them). |
| Dex The King01-11-05, 04:59 PM | I'd start out as a changeling artificer, for what I'd do next . . . well, it's been four whole months, and I haven't changed my opinion. From way back here: (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=301462&page=2) I'd go to the University of Wynarn. If they didn't let me in, I'd go to the Library of Korranberg. In either place, I'd study everything they have about Khyber, and learn to speak Infernal and Daelkyr. I'd also try to learn everything they could teach me about artifice and the art of magical item creation. I'd travel around, spreading the word of Khyber's glory to those who would listen, while continuing to pursue item creation and collecting various bits and pieces of magical artistry, such as schemas and dragonshards. I'd try to build up a following of cultists who would help me. For my second in command, I'd try to get a member of House Lyrandar. They'll come in handy. I'd go to Xen'drik, the Mournlands, the Demon Wastes, and the Shadow Marches. I'd explore the ruins of the giants, and try to gather as much of their ancient magic as possible, all while trying to dodge drow patrols. In the Mournlands I'd study the aura of magic that lingers their still, perhaps even going to the ruined Cannith complexes and picking up more magical trinkets, schemas, infusions, or dragonshards. Hopefully my magic and my cultists can defend me from carcass crabs. My next stop is the Demon Wastes. To get there, I'd steal an airship to take me and the rest of Khyber's chosen to the nearest caldera, where I'd add the resident barbarian tribe to my following. Those that don't follow me I'd lock up in a cave, for later. In another cave I'd start working on an eldritch machine using my infusions, dragonshards, and schemas. While I'm working on the machine, I'd dispatch my cohort and some of my followers to raid a settlement in the Eldeen Reaches with our airship. They'd capture as many people as possible, and bring them back to me. Now the fun begins. My cultists start performing a ritual to release the rajah in the caldera. Then, I'd start sacrificing the villagers and unwilling barbarians to the rajah by dropping them into the caldera. Then, I activate my machine, and the combination of all these things transfers the powers of the rajah to me. Now, as Khyber's servant reborn, it is my duty to release the others of Khyber's chosen. But the other rajahs are too powerful and deceitful for me to control. So, instead of releasing them, I take their powers and add them to my own. Now, the Daelkyr must be freed, so I go to the Shadow Marches. With my might and the followers of Khyber I lay waste to the Marches. The orcs that do not bow to me and Khyber's might are destroyed by it. When I get to the seals that hold Khyber's artists, I break them, and add the daelkyr and their minions to the Army of Khyber's Might. My preparations are now over, and soon there will be now more Above and Between, but all the world will forever know the eternal darkness of Khyber. I rule over it, from my new throne built atop Thronehold, constructed entirely from the bodies of the adventurers that have tried to stop me.There. Start as changeling, end as Khyber. |
| PoeticJustice01-11-05, 05:57 PM | I'd proabably be a Talenta Halfling Rogue (with a dinosaur pet, of course!:D ). I'm short, lucky enough to get out of the stupid situations I find myself in everyday, highly skilled and am always on the run. I have a nomadic, tribal mindset. The only problem is that I can't throw for beans. |
| Kaleanae en'i Mori01-11-05, 06:33 PM | A half-elf bard/master Inq/Heir fo Siberys from House Medani and a Cyran refugee. hang on I am playing that already.... |
| DwarvinJedi01-11-05, 06:54 PM | I'd start out as a changeling artificer, for what I'd do next . . . well, it's been four whole months, and I haven't changed my opinion. From way back here: (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=301462&page=2) There. Start as changeling, end as Khyber. yay! my thread is sitting in someone's head still, I myself almost forgot about it, until I read your post. I would probably be a changeling(maybe gnome or dwarf(except my CON is as low as humanly possible) bard,, the ultimate actor, persuing the virtuoso PrC, with max ranks in knowledge(history) and living in the University district of Sharn, and maybe teach every now and agian at Morgrave, maybe go adventuring once in a while, mainly to help out the University. |
| pyro paladin01-11-05, 07:00 PM | i think i'd be a gnome artificer/bard |
| Lujayne3401-11-05, 07:21 PM | I would be a dwarf male cleric of the Church of the Silver Flame. Even tho the Church is basically lawful good. I would be neutral good (a balance of laws and personal freedom is good). I'm short (thus the dwarf race). I am a seminary graduate (thus cleric). And I spend considerable amount of time preaching, teaching, and debating theology. Headed for the Exorcist of the Silver Flame prc. |
| Elliot2201-11-05, 07:32 PM | If I truly must.. I would love to be a Member of House Orein and manage trade routes with the mark of Passage. BUT!!! If it is based on personailty and looks I would become a... CG Male Dwarf, Druid 7/Barbarain 5/Heir of Siberys 2.... Obviously the Mark of Warding. I wouldn't follow my Dwarf or Mark roots that much as I would travel around through out the countries worshiping Balinor on the side. With my Brown Bear animal companion I have recently arrived in the Eldeen Reaches and is planning on staying for a while and working with the druids. After my visit, I plan on leaving and traveling to Droaam and meeting the majestic monsters their, and possibly becoming a member of the Droaam Tribes.... (Screw humanoids, I would go for monsters anyday!) |
| LewisLlynn01-11-05, 08:31 PM | hmmmm.... Lewis Llynn, male Khoravar sorcerer/ druid. Eberron inspired me to love half-elves again, and sorcerers are magic-oriented yet dynamic. And I love nature. :D |
| mistakeagian01-11-05, 08:53 PM | I would have been born a Halfling. Joined the Boromar Clan as a Rogue and stolen lots of stuff and hurt lots of people without caring. Then one day i would have been Polymorphed into a very chubby Hobgoblin and had to make a big life change. Now, I am attending Morgrave and hoping to make something of myself. :-P |
| Aris Stormdragon01-11-05, 09:48 PM | Hmm. I would be Aris Stormdragon, Khoravar Paladin of the Silver Flame. I would have a serious problem with the corruption within the Church, and so would probably have as little to do with it as possible. There would be a few members of the clergy that I would respect and trust, but I would oppose those who have proven themselves to be corrupt. I would try to be compassionate, and always temper justice with mercy, as a paladin should, but remain faithful to what I believe to be the true tenets of the Silver Flame. I would fight evil wherever I found it, even within the halls of my own Church. And this rumor that I keep hearing, something about a Dark Voice of the Flame. I must learn the truth of the matter........ |
| taski01-11-05, 10:24 PM | Gnome artificer/illusionist. In real life, I'm a small person, and a crafter/artist to boot. I'd have a bunch of fun mixing illusion and artifice to make unusual public art, like moving statues and murals that make soothing music. For the heroism, I could take trips to Thelanis and Dal Quor to get inspiration. |
| Wizardman01-11-05, 11:03 PM | I'd be a bookish, perpetually slightly distracted Aereni wizard. |
| NeoMorpheus01-11-05, 11:30 PM | I'd have to be an Inspired psychic warrior. How else could you explain that in this life I am a middle school teacher except by being possessed (Inspired) and a glutton for punishment (psychic warrior)? ;) |
| Raven Dark01-12-05, 12:04 AM | I would be Jorjane d'Orion (Male Human, Fighter 4/Dragonmarked Heir of House Orion 5) for no particular reason other than that I would love it. My skill ranks: Climb 7, Handle Animal 12, Intimidate 12, Jump 7, Knowledge (Nobility & Royalty 12), Ride 12, & Swim 12 My Feats: Action Surge, Favored in House (House Orion; 4/week; +3 modifier), Greater Dragonmark (Teleport), Heroic Spirit, Least Dragonmark (Dimension Leap), Lesser Dragonmark (Phantom Steed), Mounted Archery, Mounted Combat, Quicken Spell-like Ability (Dimension Leap), & Ride-By Attack My Abilities: Spell-like Abilities: 3/Day – Expeditious Retreat & Quickened Dimension Leap; 2/Day – Dimension Door (DC 15), Phantom Steed, & Teleport (DC 16). CL 15th. My Equipment: Adamantine Longsword +1, Arcane Signet Ring of House Orion, Arrows x20, Darkleaf Breastplate +4, Heavy Steel Shield +3, Identification Papers (with portrait), Lance, Letter of Credit, Mighty Composite Longbow (masterwork with a +3 strength bonus), & Ring of Protection +1 I would summon my Phantom Steed and dominate the battlefields as a mounted skirmisher (via Action Surge and Teleportation magic). I could even outrun and skewer monks with my lance. Muhahaha! |
| Marshall Stone01-12-05, 12:46 AM | Marshall Stone, Sentienal Marshall of House Deneith, with a Least Dragonmark, and Favored In House. In an effort to fullfill my potential I'd do what was needed to be a proper Dragonmark Heir. In my search for the truth and justice I'd learn the talents of a Master Inquistive. I'd start out as an urban ranger, lawful neutral with good tendencies. |
| TheRedRobedWizard01-12-05, 12:47 AM | Well, in Eberron: Taelor Llewys d'Phiarlan - Valenar Elf Bard 3. Feats: Least Mark of Shadow (Darkness), Improved Unarmed Strike Skills: Perform (Storytelling) 6 ranks, Craft (Metalworking) 6 ranks, Profession (Food Marketer) 6 ranks, Perform (Dance) 6 ranks, Knowledge (History) 6 ranks, Knowledge (Geography) 6 ranks, Knowledge (Arcana) 6 ranks. Assuming 28 point buy for stats: Str 8 Dex 12 Con 6 Int 12 Wis 14 Cha 18 -TRRW |
| JWSIII01-12-05, 01:40 AM | Personally, I'd be a human artificer of House Cannith; the *TRUE* power behind the magical infrastructure of Khorvaire; the people who created (well, reintroduced, maybe...) a whole new intelligent species and seem to be the heart issue of the books and adventures both. Also, I am a builder at heart who sends money to the planetary society and has subscriptions to popular science ect... shame I have no actual talent lol. So if i could choose, artificier on the edge of artificer achievement is where i'd be. |
| stone_dog01-12-05, 01:59 AM | I'd be a gnomish acadamician. What? No OGL classes? Can I at least trade out bardic music for some scholarly feats? ;) |
| KathyNoland01-12-05, 03:15 AM | I think I will be a human female Bard 2. Why? I would be a bard because I like to know about everything and travel around to get new knowledgement and I'm also quite good at talking to people and make them think as I do (diplomacy, bluff skills...) And level 2 ... because level 1 it's too low ;) But that's not the character I would prefer to play. It will be maybe something like a shifter fighter/rogue. I hope I could play it soon... |
| DJDave01-12-05, 03:30 AM | Human Bard working for the Chronicle |
| TranquilDarkness01-12-05, 04:33 AM | Give to me the body of a warforged and I will inhabit it :D Having had no choice during creation I'd probably be a Fighter exploring my options after the war. Servitude conflicting with curiosity. |
| Rinna01-12-05, 10:05 AM | I'd probably be either a half-elf or a gnome (maybe a halfling; I like the short races, and I like pointy ears) and would either be a bard (because of my love of music and my love of history and of writing) or maybe multi-class as a sorcerer or wizard (preferably sorcerer, I'm too lazy to have to choose my spells beforehand...I'll choose what I need when I need). So yeah, gnome bard/sorcerer. That'd be cool. Of course, I'm really a kender, so I just confuse the people of Eberron, wondering what kind of crazy halfling I am. ;) Rinna |
| pjackson01-12-05, 10:53 AM | Human Commoner 3 |
| nyysjan01-12-05, 11:47 AM | what i would is human commoner with charisma 8 but what i'd like to be is gestalt Changeling Sorcerer/Rogue |
| The White Sorcerer01-12-05, 11:55 AM | For all those who say they'd be commoners, I quote the OP: You also have a "heroic" character and the skills that go with it. |
| Ithamar01-12-05, 01:49 PM | I would probably be an adept or cleric of one of the good religions. Maybe Silver Flame, maybe not. (Unfortunately don't have my books with me to pick out my favorite member of the Sovereign Host.) I would probably be either a Dwarf or a human. I would travel around with an adventuring group trying to spread the good word of my faith and try to help as many people as possible. Hopefully my church wouldn't get too mad that I am using my divine skills for something other than members of the church. |
| Isran_Imrador01-12-05, 02:09 PM | I will be a Half-elf from house lyrandar! hopefully a Wizard or Druid! And have a least dragonmark..... |
| Quoriil01-12-05, 02:53 PM | Hmm... Crazy Goblin, Psion(Telepath)/Druid(Child of Winter). "Beware city man, I know your heart. *tuneless humming* Do you like beetles?" Oooo... the trouble I'd get into :D |
| shadowpavement01-12-05, 03:25 PM | I'd prabably be a human or half-orc monk/fighter of the Broken Blade. I like a good structured lifestyle and lots of personal discipline and fortitude 19 years of martial arts and 5 years of fencing have to count for something. |
| Leagle01-12-05, 07:00 PM | Chaotic Elan soulknife. The blurb for chaotic soulknives fits me perfectly, as does the Elan revenge/power suggestion for using them in Eberron. Concentrated rage made real. Otherwise I'd be a half-elf monk. Or possibly a Rogue/fighter with unarmed combat feats. The compromise is an Aristocrat/Monk. It all depends on how you think my experiences should be organised [But I say Half-elf for those because while I'm smart, I manage to be really slow... I feel that missing feat & skill!] |
| Chiba_Monkey01-13-05, 02:13 AM | An Elf bard from House Phiarlan. An entertainer (actor) and professional escort ;) . I'd probably be manifesting a dragonmark and go into the DMH PrC. |
| pjackson01-14-05, 09:13 AM | So commoners can't be heroic? The question was what would you be. Commoner 3 is the closest match. If the question was what would you want to be then Aristocrat 1/Expert 1/Wizard 1 - Aristocrat so I would not be poor, Expert so I could have a lot of knowledge, and Wizard (Illusionist) because Prestidigitation would make life a lot easier. No higher than third as I would not want to be powerful enough to have dangerous enemies. I would have no problems dropping Necromancy and Enchantment so I might as well specialize and Illusion looks the most fun. Human because I am happy with being one. I certainly would not want to be an adventurer. Their lives are too dangerous, and a Good character (which I would insist on) needs some special motivation to become one. Such motivation would likely be unpleasant. If I had to be one then since INT would be my highest characteristic it would be Rogue 1/Wizard (Illusionist) 9. I would want to be able to teleport to safety. First level as Rogue for the skill boost - not Open Locks & Disable Device, but Diplomacy/Bluff/Gather information. |
| oneday01-14-05, 10:05 AM | Human Fighter :D |
| MrFilthyIke01-14-05, 10:36 AM | Shane = Warforged Wizard, all the way. :) |
| The White Sorcerer01-14-05, 10:47 AM | So commoners can't be heroic? They can, but they don't have the skills to go with it. |
| stone_dog01-14-05, 12:28 PM | They can, but they don't have the skills to go with it. If anything, that makes what little acts of bravery they DO do even more heroic. Who is braver? A seventh level fighter stopping a street mugging or a 3rd level commoner trying to? |
| Fallen_AngelS01-15-05, 09:42 PM | Cleric/Wizard I am one with strong belief, and finding myself in a world were gods actualy answered my prayers in a rather direct way, I'd want to devote my life to such pursuit. I am also one of knowledge. In a world were magic works miracles, it would be a knowledge I would covet much. If I'd actualy be any good at any of these two, is an entirely different question... But since this is a nice little fantasy world, I'd kick ars :OÞ |
| N'wah01-16-05, 12:06 AM | Talenta halfling all the way, baby. Probably start as a barbarian, then move into either sorcerer or luck out and have a kalashtar teach me my latent psychic potential. On a side note, looks like TWS and Stone Dog are gonna get into it over a 3rd-level commoner. Maybe someone will lose an eye. Sigh... too bad the commoner's one final act of heroism got him killed trying to stop that street mugging... |
| Dagda Mor01-16-05, 12:19 AM | Kalashtar Psion, possibly the one who teaches N'Wah. You never know. . . |
| Nos-4-A201-16-05, 12:25 AM | Who would I want to be? A Dwarven Fighter/Artificer with a Warding Dragonmark and a Dwarven Waraxe. A well rounded dwarf who gets down to business and don't take guff. Who would I really be? A perpetually-joking Gnomish Bard who definitely shot first. Nos |
| Ishorn01-16-05, 07:51 AM | I would be a hobgoblin or half-orc bard/master inquisitive because I found a sketch that would match this character and I love the master inquisitive prestige class. |
| rhoan_0101-17-05, 03:28 AM | Half-Elf Urban Ranger and Chronicler, writing about the Cogs for the Inquisitive. Eventually I'd take levels in the Master Inqusitive, just 'cause I like nosing around other people's business. Oh, and I'm a journalist. |
| WorldwalkerPure01-23-05, 05:28 PM | If there is any justice in this world, or Eberron, for that matter, I would end up being a half-elf female bard, eventually taking levels in the Seeker Of The Song PRC. That's me, WorldwalkerPure: Gender Dysphoric since 2001. Gee. This is my first post on any of the boards. What a way to make an entrance, huh? :D |
| burnzy01-23-05, 08:05 PM | human airsailor 9 wizard 6 but i think it would be nice to be a warforged artificer 12 :D |
| nick01200001-24-05, 05:12 AM | I would either be a human expert or human mageright 1. If i was lucky, maybe an artificer. |
| Splendide01-24-05, 08:13 AM | True Neutral Human Rogue/Wizard(Conjurer) |
| Rinna01-24-05, 09:15 AM | Gee. This is my first post on any of the boards. What a way to make an entrance, huh? :D Don't worry about it. We're a pretty strange group. You'l fit in just fine. Welcome to the boards. Rinna |
| GryMor01-24-05, 12:29 PM | Race: By physical appearance and temperment: Werebear or Dwarf By preference Changeling or Human of House Cannith By acursed destiny Gnome Class: Artifacer Gener: Male Specialty: Building/using Magitek computers and cheap 'Alter self' devices. |
| Nos-4-A201-24-05, 02:27 PM | Why choose! Werebear Dwarf, woo! |
| Chiba_Monkey01-24-05, 03:42 PM | Tessrel Moonshadow Elf bard, in service to House Phiarlan. I love elves, and I'm a Theatre major, and every "what dnd character are you?" quiz I've taken comes out elf bard. And I love House Phiarlan, I like to think I'd have a dragonmark. |
| Xeraph01-25-05, 07:42 AM | Shifter Ranger/Psychic Rogue As a child i spend most of my time running around in the nearby woods... it was a naturalplayground for me most of my childhood. I always suffered from being ill tempered, which suits the shifter fine, bu not it the degree of being a Barbarian, the shifting abbility would explain alot. Psychic rogue makes up for the rest... Ever thinking, layed back, sees the broad persepctive, i am a real life thief whenever i can be, but not to the extend of hurting people. Possessing things thats ensured or "open" is not a crime, in my book that is, and if people are that irresponsible with their belonings... well, learn a lesson. I to have studied alot, which makes up for my first lvel feat "Education" and anatomy is not faroff, and neither is sneak attack. Trap finding, well, ive learned my way with that stuff. So, there you go. Shifter Ranger/Psychic Rogue. |
| Quoriil01-25-05, 09:38 AM | if i didn't spontaneously manifest as that goblin psidruid i'd probably end up as a human rogue, and not a terribly good one... sneaky, poking in tender places, listening to others conversations, climbing anything around me and fiddling with delicate mechanisms seems to be a good fit, but i'm a lousy thief and worse at gambling. *sigh* |
| Beleriphon01-25-05, 11:55 AM | Beleriphon - Half-orc paladin of the Sovereign Host, out to smash evil into a foul smelling pile of goo. Or a half-orc monk, who misquotes Confucsious: "Kronk says when head hurt, is because Kronk smash in your face!" |
| drasticale01-25-05, 12:25 PM | Half-Elf Warrior/Expert - I've got a silver tongue, and military training in real life... So, ya know. |
| InfernalWashragOfDoom01-25-05, 12:30 PM | Waforged Rogue: "Bite My Shiny Metal Ass" |
| Ohtar Turinson01-25-05, 02:51 PM | A half-elf wizard 1 with Martial Weapon Proficency: Bastard Sword as my feat. |
| darkthought01-25-05, 03:19 PM | I think I'd either be a LG dwarf artificer, maybe working for Cannith, or one of the state-sponsored human necromancers in Karrnath. The necro would be LN in alignment. I'm going into nanoscience as a career, so there's the artificer, and i'm sarcastic, sometimes jolly, and usually morbid, so there's the necro. :) |
| Ojoxsofeta01-25-05, 03:20 PM | LE human transmuter 2, with the least mark of making. My objective would be to attempt and reunite the three fragments of the House Cannith, rebuild forges and start churning out warforged at an alarming rate. Once armies have been raised, conquer the Five Nations. Eberron would bend under the mighty power of Ojoxsofeta d'Cannith and his mighty warforged legions. |
