| DionGrey08-16-04, 03:37 PM | Has anyone had any experience combining Eberron and the Iron Kingdoms setting? They are not that different after all and both quite cool - Although I think that Eberron is much more variable and more suited for long-going campaigns, which is why I plan to work some of the IK ideas into the world of Eberron and not vice versa. Any suggestions, etc...? |
| Mentat5508-16-04, 08:51 PM | I have already used or plan to use several creatures from the Monsternomicon, the creature sourcebook for the Iron Kingdoms. In particular, I am using some of the undead creatures, a few of the constructs (I really like the Deathjack), and the Guardian Giant (perhaps guarding some incredibly powerful artifact in the ruins of Xen'drik). I could also imagine the cephalyx as minions of the daelkyr. I do plan on modifying some of the creatures heavily. |

Heck, Monsternomicon monsters are godd additions to *any* campaign. |

I'm all for a lot of the stuff in Iron Kingdoms making it's way into Eberron. My main idea is that an aberrant marked explorer/artificer discovers lore of Cyriss and begins to make guns, steampower, etc. Perhaps he has no love for the Dragonmarked Houses and sees this new lore as a perfect way to break their monopoly (why ride the lightning rail when you can ride the STEAM rail?). There are many flaws in this idea, of course but it's a start. I love the idea of using the Second-Story Man PrC, as well as the visual of a rain-soaked Rifleman on a Sharn rooftop. One question: how would you justify Magehunters? You could say that they're a small and fanatic cult that hunts all non-elven arcane magic-users, but that's a very one-trick reason (not to mention how hunted THEY would be!). Anyhoo, the biggest snags in mixing the two are steamtech and gunpowder. Once those are figured out, the rest is pie! (Seems to me that the "lost lore" is the way to go) |
