| Charles Phipps09-12-06, 04:45 AM | I was thinking about a possible campaign set in the military in one of the Four Great Powers. Possibly onboard a military airship with everyone taking individual jobs. Does anyone think that this might work? What might be the adventures and differences? |
| Frederyck09-12-06, 05:05 AM | Possibly onboard a military airship with everyone taking individual jobs. One is a construction worker, one a fireman, one a biker... It could work. Seriously though, a military aspect of a campaign can be great for introducing lots of disparate stories - kind of like Stargate SG1 (or Charlie Phipps' Angels for that matter...:) ) with the next mission always coming from their superiors. There will be no real need for explaining why they one week are battling Bulettes together with some Halflings and the next negotiating peace with some Sahuagin. This doesn't leave out the possibilities of recurring villains of overarching plots, obviously, but the obvious railroading can be fun for both the players and the DM. "I wonder where Charlie will send us this time?" |

| Kreistor109-12-06, 10:28 AM | I describe Argonth as a "floating battleship". Of course, I have elemental based cannon in my world, so it really is. Any way you run it, Argonth would be a good place for aerial cavalry. Hippogriff riders would be elite response troops for trouble spots. (Most appropriate spot for adventurers, I'd think.) Regular troops couold deploy in a low altitude low opening style, by using the one shot feather fall tokens to jump out of the fortress and land en masse. For a longer term campaign, I'd set in Karrnath, but start on a small anti-pirate frigate. Lhazhaar would be a real problem for Karrnathi shipping. As they level up and rise in the ranks, they could be given their own ever increasing in size ship, until they command Wind Galleons. You probably would want to give the campaign a Horatio Hornblower feel, so I'd seriously consider creating Elemental Cannon to give these ships the ability to actually hurt each other. |

| Ricohard_Draconis09-15-06, 11:52 AM | It is a really old thread ... go look it up. It is there. And I didn't make it up. just don't mention the giant ring gate buried under the Mror holds from where you can travel to almost anywhere. |
| eehamburg09-15-06, 12:10 PM | just don't mention the giant ring gate buried under the Mror holds from where you can travel to almost anywhere. You didn't know about that? Yeah ... It's a Khybergate. Just think of the endless possiblities .... :heehee |
