| Eled_the_Worm_Tamer08-12-06, 10:45 AM | ( first up if any of this is similar to anything in the Players guide or other books I apologise, this is based off Ebberon Core+ my own thoughts, and is a way of meshing inacrnum to the setting deeply and seemplessly, comments are wealcome) Incarnum, is the oldest magic, magic in the blood, in the bone, in the soul. Magic in the first wail if a newborn, the last breath of an old man, and the legends of heroes gone before. It is seen first in the Orkish tribes of what was to become the Elderine reaches. Wild savage and hardy they had already learnt the ways of the Totemist, and those among them able to draw on the power of the Animal lords became cheftans and hunt leaders. It is this dond with nature that lead the Green dragon Vvaraak to chose them for her tutalage, brining this race, and then others the ways of the druidic order called the gate keepers. Even now in the Elderine reaches and elsewhere Totemists and druids serve the same orders, seeing oneanother as different paths to the same destination. Even in tis ancent age it was atempts by the few Wizards and other weilders of magic to emulate soulmelds that lead them to the teachniques of enchantment, f imbuiing phsical objects with lasting power. It was used by the Dhakaani, Incarnates of law and other ethoses were instrimental in binding tohether the hobgoblin nations into a great empire, but even the souls of law them selves could not save the nation from the Dealkyrs chayos. Then for many centuarys it was forgotten, or dismissed as primitave folk magic. Pesants tales of shifters and baseless supersition. A rare few who had dared to plumb the ruins of Dhakaani wouls stumble across the secrets of the incarnates, but rarer were those who reclamed that power. Untill the comming of the last war. Untill Cannith began producing warforged. Perhaps becase their sols are more loosely bound, perhaps in atempt to prove that souls they do posess, many warforged have shown a tallent for the use of incarnum and so the powers of souls see light in a new era. Those warforged who weild it seem drawn to the Godforged cult, feeling as other folowers of the belif build the body, there shaping of soulmelds builds the spirit. By the Time of the treaty of thronehold many undividuals of otherraceswere embracing the power, and ancent records were being revaluated. so the ancent is renewed, uch is the nature of incarnum. |
| Nived08-12-06, 01:07 PM | Player's Guide has it a little different. Its a very old and not wide spread magical practice. Most common use on Khorvaire is Shifter Totemists in the Reaches whove come in contact with rare Dusklings who've crossed over from Thelanis. Skarns and Rilkains get the 'its from Xen'drik treatment... or more specifically a small island nation to the northwest of Xen'drik. Also it mentions an extremely old site of Incarnum in the Endworld mountains of mysterious origin that well predates the age of Galifar. Anyway, no reason the Goblin Empire didn't have use of it in some form, I kinda like that idea. One idea I've personally been toying with for a storyline (because I like using strange things to keep my players off gaurd) Is a noble family from Karrn, one of the Warlord Noble houses, who at some point durring the Last War came in contact with an incarnum user (probably a totemist) and captured this being alive and sought to learn its secrets. The latest generation of this family. Whom are right and proper nobles would be part of the "Take out Kaius III and replace him with a king that has balls" mindset... I figure their living troups would be normal classes but have access to Incarnum feats, also use some Necrocarnum zombies. Have members of the house have Incarnum Classes, with the current head being a Necrocarnate and rather crazy evil. The PCs wouldn't know what I'm throwing at them (none of them have read the book). Keeps the idea of Incarnum is there but rare. Also I think I'd increase the Knowledge Arcana DCs on Incarnum by 10, and Knowledge the Plane DCs by 5, becuase it seems to be regularly used in Thelanis. |
