goldengod 01-25-05, 04:02 PM	I'm thinking about running a campaign based on the Incursion crossover in Dragon #309 and Dungeon #100. I'd be curious to hear any ideas on how the invasion might play out in Eberron, i.e., what nations would be targeted first by the githyanki, which would band together, which would join with the enemy, and so on. Would they be able to forget their rivalries from the Last War to fight a common foe? And what about all the secret organizations? How would the Dreaming Dark or the Lords of Dust react to upstarts from the Astral Plane moving in on their turf? The nations of Khorvaire might not fair too well against the githyanki onslaught, considering that there are far fewer high-level characters than in most campaigns. But, on the other hand, the Material Plane inhabitants of Eberron are a bit more used to planar invasions than those in most campaign worlds... I would ask Hellcow, but the poor man's got enough on his plate as it is. Anyway, thanks in advance.
darkthought 01-25-05, 04:15 PM	I think Adar would give them some trouble. Both are psionic/semi-psionic. As for what nations they'd invade first, that depends on their tactics. Do they go after the strong military/magic societies first to break the backs of a unified resistance, or start with the little weak societies and nibble their way through? If the go after the strong countries first, I'd say Karrnath and Aerenal would be first. Karrnath has their undead army which makes them immune to the mind-affecting psionics. They also have one of the strongest martial traditions, due to the fact that every citizen is required to serve for a few years. Aerenal I'd say would be on the first target list because they have Undying Court. There's great power there. Thrane and Breland wouldn't be too far behind. If they go after the weak countries first, i'd say Q'barra, Eldeen, Shadow Marches, and Aundair would go first. Both don't have the military traditions of the stronger countries, but they could offer resistance with magic. But then, magic is limited by the amount of spells a caster can cast per day. I could easily see the gith appear first where House Orien has their Astral Beacons that they use to help their dragonmarked members find their way around the astral plane.
megamania 01-25-05, 04:37 PM	My first thought- what would the dragons have to say about this? Some may sit back and let things fall where they fall. Others will be PO'd and attack or at least aid the "new races". Without knowing much about Xen'drix yet, the githyanki may even go there. Lots of power just waiting to be discovered and used with how resistance? Incursion would redefine the world also. Keep that in mind.
