Info on the last war plz [Archive] - Wizards Community

02-05-05, 12:00 AM I am planning on running a campaign takign place during the last war, about two or three years before the day of mourning. Anyone have any tips on runnign this? or any info on the last war? The pc's are going to be brelish soldiers fighting in the eastern front, and they wont be fighting in any major battles, just doing things like recon, and other military hooha

02-05-05, 12:17 AM Is your entire campaign going to be based in the Last War? 'Cause I think that a single over the top battle in which the PC's first meet would be a great way to start a campaign off. However, as for things to do within the Last War, I have only a single idea.

Perhaps they could work to infiltrate Cyre, as spies attempting to gain information for the Brelish crown.

02-05-05, 02:46 AM Remember that the ECS, the Sharn handbook, and the City of Towers novel are all the information we have. We don't know any more than you do, and we don't have access to any more resources than you do.

In Essence, the Last War reminded me a lof of World War II, complete with a cataclysmic event that ended it. So, I would use any good war movie as a primer for it. Eberron, in terms of sociopolitical development, sits somewhere between 18th century Europe and comtemporary America, except with magic instead of technology.

Also, if you've got ahold of City of Towers (the novel), the Prologue takes place Olarune of 994 -two years before the Mourning, and it paints an effective picture of the chaos of the lasy years of the War. Once again, however, it has a very "war movie" feel to it, which is something you should try to evoke in a campaign set during the Last War.

EDIT: Also, I might advise that spelling and grammar count around here. Though I'm somewhat new here myself, I've learned that demonstrating intelligence and competence through good writing tends to get people to take you more seriously. I almost skipped this thread because of the "plz" in the title.

Save the chat jargon for the chatrooms, the insults for the Counterstrike matches, and the l33tsp33k for the MegaTokyo forums, and you'll do fine.
