| skrap-san11-25-07, 01:16 PM | The ECS tells us that the following movies are good sources of inspiration: Brotherhood of the wolf, casablanca, From Hell, The maltese falcon, The Mummy The Name of the rose Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy Indiana Jones trilogy Sleepy Hollow the forge of war recommends: Casablanca and the third man Now what I wonder is, what movies do you guys recommend? My personal recommendation is Stardust. |
| IMAL11-25-07, 02:28 PM | Robocop Warforged Inquisitive? Warforged Paladin? Firefly/Serenity A couple of my characters were inspired by this series Desperado, Once Upon a Time in Mexico Nothing better than gunslinging bards. Bladerunner "They say you Brade Runner..." Lord of War A halfling arms merchant walks into a bar... The Last Samurai I use this mainly for quotes. There's nothing better than ending a dialog between a character and an NPC with "I have bery much enjoyed this conversation in Engrish". Pitch Black Drow rogues come from this movie. V for Vendetta Watch it, trust me. The Hunt for Red October Ideas for airship combat abound! (Especially if you are fighting in fog, storms, or dense clouds). Sometimes, I use a Sean Connery-esque voice when giving commands. Knights of the Old Republic. Not a movie. A number of elements can be used from this. Namely, HK-47. |

| iserith11-26-07, 10:22 AM | It depends on what you are going for. My last campaign could definitely be compared to Indiana Jones - extreme explorers, the steaming Xen'drik jungle, hostile natives, etc. King Kong might also apply. Picture that nasty giant insect-filled ravine. Nasty. My current campaign is set in Sharn and focuses on paranormal investigators; it definitely has an X-Files feel to it. There's a lot of intrigue and politics, plots and cover-ups. My next campaign will start in Qbarra and be a "travelling" campaign, where the PCs go from town to town, city to city, gaining renown as bards (all PCs will be required to take bard). I plan on using all manner of movie cliches in this one - Almost Famous, Boogie Nights... basically any movie where you have a lot of highs and lows with a serious focus on what town you happen to be in at the time (e.g. Lost in Translation). This will be my most ambitious yet lighthearted campaign to date and I'm really looking forward to it. Eberron is varied enough to pick practically any movie and apply it. Don't feel forced to stick to the sci-fi/fantasy genres! |
| lonewolf11-26-07, 10:46 AM | I know its drastic, but a Sin City - theme can work for a Sharn based campaign. |
| Ohtar Turinson11-26-07, 11:01 AM | I'm pretty sure that the 2006 version of Casino Royale would work very well. Lots of double/triple crossing and action point use. |
| naturax11-26-07, 03:59 PM | Babylon 5! Aerenal elves <-> Vorlon Warforged <-> PsyCorps Daelkyr <-> The Shadow etc. Plus all of the political manuevering. |
