Friend of mine came up with this for a campaign we were running on Sundays on Tapestries MUCK (furry and BDSM oriented Multi User Chat Kingdom) which I will be using for the stories: Way back in the history of Khorvaire the Rakhasa Lords created slave races from some of the native animals, uplifting them in mind and body and thus creating a slew of anthropomorphic animal races such as the lupin, cat folk, gnolls, minotaurs and my own custom races. When these lords were imprisoned, the slaves revolted and in some small ways help to contribute to the downfall of these creatures. In the wake of this revolt these furry races created an empire for themselves that was in turn destroyed by the goblinoids when they made their own empire. When humanity and the other "standard" races invaded, some of these furry sorcerers and druids created lycanthropy to try and convert the new comers to their side. Something went wrong and lycanthropy exists in its current form. By the time of the Last War, the various races were scattered across Khorvaire and working in and for the various nations in certain capacities. Using PHB2 I have the following back story for a mercenary ranger that I have in mind: He began his career working for either the Cyran Military or a Mercenary group based in Cyre. On the Day of Mourning he was in the Eldeen Reaches helping that region win its independance. Now the homeland that he once knew is no more and he has turned to becoming a mercenary to fill the void. The Reaches are now his home but he does occasionally pine for Cyre. Now for the really tricky parts. The character's signature weapon is a little strange. I'm taking the short polearm from Bastion Press, the war fork, and altering it further. I want to put octagonal plates on the butt of the weapon and make so that when he uses it to attack it hurts like a greatclub. This also makes it a double weapon polearm that can do all three damage types. How high should the Craft (Weaponsmithing) DC be to create this weapon. And since I personally loathe the proliferation of XWPs, I'm making the finished product a Martial Weapon instead of Exotic although anyone using it will look pretty exotic, which is partially the point since I'm using the Soldier background and the Renegade personality archetype for this lupin ranger. Now given the background, would a soldier with the renegade personality be out of line for this sort of character?
