| Alkaline03-25-05, 09:41 AM | Here's my problem: I have the Eberron campaign setting and have read it over a couple of times. I feel like I have a good feel for the style and mood of the setting. The problem I face is that not all of my players have the Eberron book and I'm having a hard time getting the feel across to the players. Now, we've played a couple of adventures in Eberron and used some of the races and rules from Eberron. But, it still feels like any other D&D adventure with Eberron accessories tacked on. My first real Eberron CAMPAIGN is coming up and I'm just looking for tips to help my players really dive into the atmosphere of Eberron. I also saw an "Eberron Overview" sheet another DM posted on here and thought that was a great idea but I can't find it anywhere. Anyone have a link or a saved file? Some things I'd really like tips on introducing in particular: Dragonmarked Houses Racial Tension The Last War and it's effect on the world and the PCs Magic in Eberron (industrialized low level magic) Pulp Noir atmosphere! Any help would be appreciated! Thanks! |

I recommend getting your players to read the Appendix of City of Towers (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786935847/bossythecow-20?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1), the first Eberron novel. It's a spoiler-free overview of the setting's key points. (And it comes with a novel that's really a must-read for DMs running a campaign in Sharn, a campaign that will revolve around one or more of the dragonmarked houses, or a campaign involving Cyrans.) Be sure to have them browse the online art gallery (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/20040618a), as well, because Eberron's look conveys a lot about the setting. And though it doesn't tell the whole story, I think the old Across Eberron (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/20031216b) brochure is a great way for players to get a "taste" of Eberron. |

I recommend getting your players to read the Appendix of City of Towers (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786935847/bossythecow-20?creative=327641&camp=14573&link_code=as1), the first Eberron novel. I actually plan on picking this up myself once the campaign gets going I figure I could read it over one weekend. But, for now the campaign is starting tomorrow and having "required" reading material doesn't seem like a sound idea for my group. Be sure to have them browse the online art gallery (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/eb/20040618a), as well, because Eberron's look conveys a lot about the setting. I'll use this idea though. Thanks for your help! |

Afterwards, ask if they want to start the next adventure with these PCs, if they want this to have actually happened, what kind of characters they'd want to play, etc. |
