i recently ran an OA game which was also my first time to gm any game for nearly 20 years. the players enjoyed it and asked if i'd like to consider running a regular campaign.

i want to suggest eberron but don't know exactly how to describe it to them. oa was their first non-traditional pseudo-european fantasy setting though they quickly figured it out. but eberron -- with flying ships, floating towers (sharn), lightning rails, the unique races (changeling, shifters, etc.) is quite different from FR, GH, CSotIO and homebrews which they've mostly played in other games.

so, any suggestions?

There is an FAQ For Newbies sticked to the top of the forum that would be a good palce to start.
