My players have recently arrived in Stormreach (last session), and this week I have two new players. Knowing that they are going to be coming into the story in Stormreach (I explained Xen'drik as a tropical jungle) they decided to be:

A Uldra (frostburn)
A Domovoi (frostburn)

Both are fey. One has mood swings, stays away from civilization and is cold oriented, the other if fire oriented and hardly leaves the family it's protecting.

Now I can kinda see them in parts of Xen'drik (frozen parts, glaciers, etc...), but why would they be in stormreach?

Neither of them know a single thing about Eberron and wants me to help make their backstory for them. I have no problem doing this, but need some ideas to work off of.

Does anyone have any ideas on what an Uldra, and a Domovoi would be doing in Stromreach?

Uldra, cold-oriented fey, meeting up with the party in Stormreach...

Just to brainstorm:

The uldra could be a Frostfell transplant who shipped down with some House Kundarak dwarves. The dwarves provide the cold place link, and the House Kundarak branch office provides the Stormreach link.
The uldra could be from one of Xen'drik's mountain ranges, met with some adventurers, and followed them back to Stormreach out of curiousity (fey nature at work!). Alternately, the social connection could be a friendly drow tribe that runs between Stormreach and the uldra's mountains.
The uldra could have washed up in Stormreach on an ice floe that drifted up from the Everice region (hm, I kinda like that one).
The "uldra" could be a creature (former drow?) that was transformed by contact with a Risian manifest zone. (That's perhaps a little far out there.)
The uldra could be from the northern Lhazaar islands, and stranded here in Stormreach after ditching the pirate ship he/she rode in on.

Sorry-- can't recall enough about the domovoi to suggest anything off the top of my head. :)

I don't have Frostburn, but I'll try to offer some suggestions based on the information you've presented.

If the Domovoi stays with a normal humanoid family to protect it, it could easily have accompanied that family through their own travels. If you're just starting the campaign, you could attach him to one of the PC's, instantly creating a relationship between the two characters that can be used to facilitate the new player getting involved with the setting. Of course, if you're going to do that, you'll need to discuss it with both players, so that you can work something out that's good for everyone.

The Uldra could be a captive of some unscrupulous carnival owner, displaying the strange fey as an oddity in the market. The players could free the character or, if your players aren't the type to take hold of a plot hook just because it's there, the Uldra could have already escaped, so they aren't dependent on anyone else's decisions. it would certainly give him a motivation to join up with adventurers, to get away from the carnival and be free and maybe a bit safer with the group.
