| Gadodel12-26-04, 08:31 PM | That could join Elminister of Shadowdale, Mordenkainen of Greyhawk and Dalamar the Dark...in their periodic meetings? Might be an interesting way to advertise..eh? Course, I have not read Dragon Mag in over two years; so this might already be going on... |
| RatFlail OF DOOM!!!!12-26-04, 08:32 PM | i have no ideal what your talking about. |
| Gurv12-26-04, 08:34 PM | i have no ideal what your talking about. He is talking about a series of articles in Dragon where the most powerful wizards of the various worlds would meet together. But Eberron does not have such a wizard. Nor, IMHO, should it. And if it ever did, I would hope he kept better company. |
| scaryfroman12-26-04, 08:42 PM | There is one, Mordain the fleshweaver, who at 18th level is the most powerful NPC Wizard, but he is quite evil and probably wouldnt like the other wizards. |
| Gurv12-26-04, 08:47 PM | There is one, Mordain the fleshweaver, who at 18th level is the most powerful NPC Wizard, but he is quite evil and probably wouldnt like the other wizards. Hadn't thought of him. He'd fit right in with Dalamar. |
| Wizardman12-26-04, 08:52 PM | Well, being evil never stopped Dalamar... Ignoring the "dork-orgy" (tm whomever on this board coined it) aspects of the whole thing, it runs counter to the setting in two ways: 1) Eberron is geared towards the heroes being the ultimate mortal forces in the world (of course, they should be outclassed by most of the children of Khyber and Siberys, and by the greater denizens of the planes), and 2) Eberron is self-contained, and cannot be gotten to through the Great Wheel (like FR now is, but unlike this development Eberron's isolation doesn't bother me, as it was created that way and has not been subjected to a half-assed retcon that attacks canon and damages some flavour- but that's a rant for another thread!). Are they still writing those articles? |
| Edymnion12-26-04, 09:04 PM | "dork-orgy" (tm whomever on this board coined it)That would be Keith's wife :) Yes, Keith is married, sorry gals (or guys)! |
| Warlord12-26-04, 09:08 PM | Raistlin, he is the master of past and present. Let us not forget he taught Dalamar so he is the obvious choice. |

Course, I have not read Dragon Mag in over two years; so this might already be going on... Not generally that I'm aware of no. Characters like those used in this world would kind of be missing the whole point of Eberron though. The thing with Eberron is the stories are just beginning, not already told. There aren't big NPCs out there dictating how the world runs, the fate of the world is yet to be decided by heroes that will rise from the ashes of a shattered world. Eberron was created to be a counter point to all the stock fantasy worlds out there, lets keep it that way. |
| Ch@pel12-26-04, 09:51 PM | That would be Keith's wife :) Yes, Keith is married, sorry gals (or guys)! Just as a point of personal pride, I beleive I coined the term "dork-orgy." Honeycakes referenced it in a reply to my original post about a suspected tardiness of the release of the Sharn book. I must admit, I was pretty surprised at the popularity of the term; I even saw it in someone's sig! Though I really question if the creation of such a term is something I ought to be "proud" of. As for a wizard from Eberron to meet with the other uber-NPCs, well how about Edymnion? Or Jhonen? Or Stone Dog? That would kind of send the message that the PLAYERS are the real heroes in Eb-town. |

I asked because I wanted to know if 'Wizards' were as overused in Eberron as they are everywhere else. I may pick the book up because of your post. :) |
| Edymnion12-26-04, 11:13 PM | As for a wizard from Eberron to meet with the other uber-NPCs, well how about Edymnion? No, we can't do that, I'm playing a Psion and an Artificer for "caster" characters ;) |
| Gadodel12-26-04, 11:16 PM | No, we can't do that, I'm playing a Psion and an Artificer for "caster" characters ;) Though, you still owe the club dues. They've got legbreakers they can send your way...you know. |
| Ch@pel12-26-04, 11:46 PM | No, we can't do that, I'm playing a Psion and an Artificer for "caster" characters ;) No, I don't mean a character you're playing, I mean you. I don't know you as anything other than the Thundercats-avatar-guy with the tongue twisting name. For all intents and purposes, thats a character. I'd say you have at least a +10 to Knowledge (Eberron crap). So get in there and blur some lines, my man! :D |

Now I've got an image of me, Elminster, and everybody else sitting around playing D&D. Elminster is playing a fighter and can't figure out how to calculate his BAB to save his life, Rastilin keeps mumbling things to his dice, and Mordenkainen won't shut up about how he wants to play a half-dragon. :P |
| zerotkatama12-27-04, 01:08 PM | BAMF! Sigged! |
| JohnnyONeal12-27-04, 02:45 PM | Well, you can bet that Eberron at least one wizard as powerful as the aforementioned characters. The difference is, he'd be a dragon or a rakshasa rajah or a couatl. And he wouldn't be out there rubbing shoulders with adventurers. |
| Ch@pel12-27-04, 07:06 PM | Great, just great. Now I've got an image of me, Elminster, and everybody else sitting around playing D&D. I say, if the the Player's Guide to Faerun can exist in Eberron, then you can kick it with Elminster and Co. Back on track, I think Johnny's on to something... I think a member of the Twelve or the Chamber is our best bet for a representative. Now we wait until Keith puts out his novels and gives us one decent example of a member of one of those organizations. |
| Quoriil12-28-04, 02:02 PM | I wonder who d20 CoC would send? I could picture some magewrights guild in Sharn sending a union representative to the table. "What, no I can't bend reality to suit my whim! God man, look at your staff, that things an antique. Here, I know this guy who could hook you up..." |
| MageofMyth12-28-04, 04:58 PM | The fact that there is no such wizard is the main reason that I switched to Eberron. I beg Wizards to keep it that way. |
| Korhal IV12-28-04, 05:52 PM | Let's send over a daelkyr! :D |
| Isran_Imrador12-29-04, 04:15 AM | Well i would say send a pc! i sure some Eberron pc must be lvl 10 or higher now. why dont we have a spellduel or something like that to decide witch one to send! My human evoker (currently in frostfell) is more that willing to play a game of deck of many things with Elm, Mordenk and the others! (if he ever gets back from frostfell that is)(the frostburn book is great by the way) |
