| Lujayne3403-04-05, 09:00 AM | Well there are at least two organizations that are mentioned in the Whispers module for Eberron: The Eyes of Aundair and the King's Citadel of Breland. |
| Kid SixXx03-04-05, 09:29 AM | The Dark Lanterns are Breland's covert ops branch of the government. |
| nyysjan03-04-05, 09:51 AM | The Trust |
| shadowpavement03-04-05, 09:56 AM | The Trust "My name is Gnome, James Gnome." |
| nyysjan03-04-05, 09:58 AM | "My name is Gnome, James Gnome." yuck doesn't work i admit agents of trust that get caught with alarming regularity would be "Retired" Edit- unless he was used as a decoy |
| Cloud Divider03-04-05, 10:06 AM | Has anyone tried doing this yet? IF so what country shoudl the PCs work for? Take your pick! Pretty much any of the "civilized" nations (Aundair, Breland, New or Old Cyre, Thrane, Karrnath, Zilargo, Aerenal and Valenar) are very likely to have fairly developed intelligence organizations. So go with your favorite... Aundair has the Eyes of Aundair, as previously noted. They'd probably have lots of nifty magical Bond-style gadgets. Breland has the King's Citadel and the King's Dark Lanterns, as previously noted. Brelish spy gear is probably more Artificer-y in nature thanks to their Cannith ties. The Zils practically are a nation-wide intelligence network ("Go Little Brother!"). There's The Trust, if you want a specific organization, and they likely have an external intel organization too. Old Cyre may still have the vestiges of their spy organization still existant, particularly those that were acting out of country - whether their loyalties lie with Prince Oargev in New Cyre is up to you. Oargev may have set up a new organization as well (if nothing else, to gauge Breland's opinion of his people, and the liklihood of being granted independent land or genocide). The Lord of Blades has a network as well, though it's a clumsy, newborn organization (...which isn't to say that it couldn't have a few experienced WF agents from the Last War). Thrane's intelligence network may or may not be secular. They may even have both (the secular network is structured under the Thranish crown; the non-secular network falls under the Keeper of the Flame) that may work to cross-purposes. Thranish Inquisitors are a likely candidate for the religious organization. The Karrns would likely have their own, particularly with their national strength in military affairs. One could imagine the Order of the Emerald Claw having filled this role at some point in the past, but has since gone rogue... There's also the Thuranni and...the other Dragonmark of Shadow house that act as independent intelligence organizations. Heck, you could even go with a multinational team, though by nature they'd be more independent (and would likely cross paths with the national orgs). There's a number of other organizations out there too - there's that vampire in Sharn that runs her own operation (Calderus); the Daughters of Sora Kell in Droaam have interests of their own; the Dragonmarked Houses probably have their own, though probably fairly small; the Lhesh Haruuc probably has intelligence assets, but I'd wager he's focused on threats within Darguul borders. New Gallifar/Q'barra may have something, but I doubt there's much (...except for a bunch of Last War spies who've decided to retire). And of course, don't forget the Dreaming Dark (with their Mind Seeded spies) and the the draconic Chamber... So you've got a LOT of potential to work with. The hard part is just deciding what you want to do... |
