Does this mean the govenors of the five nations were all selected from the current Galifar king's children? Presumably the Line of Galifar kings passed to the eldest child of the current king (either male or female), which means that Jorat was a descendent of Galifar, but not Thrane (being the third child of Galifar). This means Thalin, the regent in Thrane was not actually a descendent of Thrane himself. So how exactly did the governorships pass from one person to the next? Did you serve as govenor until your death and then be replaced by one of the current king's (who would be your brother or sister) children? It seems to imply that the governorships were not hereditary.

Let say that Queen Aurola was queen for all Galifar if she got 5 childeren, they all got a nations each...but what of the current familiy....hmm AKB question!

But my response seems to be accurate, and brings up a few additional points, so I'll leave it. From what I remember from previous threads, the tradition was that the leadership of the 5 nations would be given to the children of the current ruler of Galifar as sort of a training exercise. I think also the tradition was that the regent (I think that's the correct term) of Cyre was next in line to gain the throne of Galifar, but the ECS does mention a regent of Thrane ascending to the throne (with disastrous results for her). I'm guessing that if the current ruler of Galifar didn't have enough children to go around, then the remaining positions would be given to first cousins or something like that. As Isran alluded to, one affect that this system would have is that following the death of their parent and one of their siblings ascending to the throne, then the remaining regents would be out of jobs, likely hanging around in their nation as advisors, ambassadors, etc. It would also mean that there's probably a lot of descendant of Galifar running around, to the point that just having the ir'Wynarn name might mean very little without some other quality or position to go with it. Thing about it this way. One of my ancestors, John Fillmore the Mariner, came over to America around 1640. His descendants in the U.S. over the years number over 5000, including one president, Millard (lucky #13). (I'm not sure how many are alive at the moment). It's been 1000 years since Galifar reigned. How many descendants of his are now running around Khorvaire?
