Kobold Quarterly # 3 has just arrived in my inbox. I have yet to read it (printing out the issue as we speak), but one of the articles is by Keith on running Hardboiled adventures. Absolutely applicable to Eberron.

Alignment is one of the things discussed. He suggests that the easiest way of dealing with the black & white atmosphere to do is remove it, but that always isn't systemically easy. He then gives some ideas of dealing with it in those adventures. More details when I get a chance to look closely at it.

Kobold Quarterly (http://www.koboldquarterly.com/). There is a subscriber bonus if you choose that route right now (33% off and a free set of dice*). You'll be able to single issues there or at the Paizo (http://www.Paizo.com/) site soon ($5.99 per issue).

* Edit: And apparently the dice have a retail value of $20. Not too shabby.

Kobold Quarterly is the best there is in gaming mag goodness. I think it even outshines the glorious days of printed Dragon in some respects. It's worth every penny and then some. The best authors in the industry write for it...and the price is so cheap it's ridiculous. I am a very happy subscriber.

Edit: haven't read Keith's article yet, but I am very much looking forward to taking a half hour break from working tonight to gobble it up!

That being said, I get the PDF version and print it out. Now that Wolfgang is moving it to the newstand, it might work it's way to being more affordable in print, though.

I have read the article. No mechanics to speak of (just a bit on alignment, and it's not really any more mechanical than alignment itself is). Just lots of tips on running a noir campaign.

A lot of time is spent on making sure the PCs have the right feel. There are a number of questions you ask the PCs to get a feel of their character. The first is "What was you biggest mistake?" Not having one is not an acceptable answer. All heroes of flawed in noir campaigns.

It's up now at Paizo (here (http://paizo.com/store/blog#v5748dyo5l94i) is some info) for $5.99 PDF. Not bad for 60 pages (including ads) of goodness. I guess the interview with Ed Greenwood is next on my list (

I keep putting off subscribing, but now that I have a new, higher paying job and KB is doing the occasional article for them, I don't think I have a choice. Besides, with Baur running the ship, that means a lot of ex-Planescapers who owe him a favour or three might write awesome planar articles.

The article actually got it's start on ENWorld. There was a discussion on noir in Eberron. I suggested that someone write an article for Kobold Quarterly. Wolfgang (http://www.enworld.org/showthread.php?p=3632579#post3632579) suggested that he would publish[/url] it if Keith wrote it. Keith said he was interested and would see if he could fit it in...and over a handful of months it happened.

Still, who knows.
