Keith Baker invades GitP... [Archive] - Wizards Community

Introducing the Gleaner (http://www.giantitp.com/articles/gk7uKJeF296jRcx1NJw.html), for all those people who want a little magic in your farms, but don't want an adept or a magewight. Now with veiled references to Eberron. :P

Comes complete with multiple new spells, including a Prestidigtation replacement for the nature types, a widwifery spell, many farming-related spells, and more.

I enjoyed the 'Fertility' blessing of the Gleaner. Now, you can really can have prize livestock, and it'll show statistically too.

12-07-06, 12:42 AM Having just read Occult Lore, I'm disappointed he reused the name of his infinitely cool Gleaner magic-using class (the one that harvests the spirits of the dead) for this somewhat less interesting but still cool NPC class.

12-07-06, 02:55 AM Gleaners are exactly what I have been looking for. I always wondered why there wasn't a NPC land-magic class. The lack led to really more druids then there should have been. This will make an excellent replacement for druids in the multitude of shifter communities I end up playing in.

I just finished a campaign with a pretty heavy druidic influence (3 PC druids total over the course of the game, plus a ranger) so I had to field a lot of questions about NPC members of the druidic sects, and the adept was the best I could muster as an "Druid-lite" class. In future games, I will certainly be using the Gleaner. (Although, yeah, I probably won't call them "Gleaners")
