| Jancarius04-30-06, 08:54 PM | Seriously. Shut up. Seriously, take a joke. I was commenting on the extreme cliffhanger the book ends on, rather than actually calling Keith a jerk, something that I felt was supremely obvious from the satirical nature of the post. |
| Edymnion04-30-06, 08:57 PM | Um, you do know that discussion of the novels is strictly off limits anywhere on the boards, yes? |
| Jancarius04-30-06, 09:05 PM | No, I was completly unaware of that. Is that a legal rule, or is there some other reason? |
| turalisj04-30-06, 09:18 PM | Dunno. I do know this though.... *casts tactical nuke on the thread while simataneously opening a hole to Xoriat and releasing Khyber upon the thread* |

It was unnecessary, like this thread. Please delete this, mods. |

I was commenting on the extreme cliffhanger the book ends on, rather than actually calling Keith a jerk, something that I felt was supremely obvious from the satirical nature of the post. I have to admit, even though I know it's a joke, it sounds very offensive. Personally, I had my pitchfork in hand, and my torch ablazing when I first saw this thread and had to calm myself down quite a bit once I realized you weren't serious. I'm sure a lot of people felt the same way. I know you meant it as a joke, but you have to keep in mind, on a message board, all that subtle inflection that you might use in real life isn't there, and so it comes off as just rip roaringly offensive. Tone down the language just a tad and maybe make it a little more lighthearted before Keith gets back and reads it himself. :) |
| cancerousmango04-30-06, 10:07 PM | ...before Keith gets back and reads it himself. :) That was my main concern too. If I was Keith, I would get really ****** watching people talk about me like that after I had worked so hard for them. I'd pull a J.D. Salinger and flee society. |
| Edymnion04-30-06, 10:19 PM | No, I was completly unaware of that. Is that a legal rule, or is there some other reason?Basically, we used to have a board for novel discussions that the authors posted to. Everybody made complete asses out of themselves, and a few authors nearly filed harassment lawsuits against the users. The execs had the board closed and all discussion of novels banned (other than purely mechanical aspects, like statting up armor or spells from the book). Although, the responce you got was pretty rude and uncalled for. |
