It occured to me that the drama of the storyline is something I'd personally like to recapture. Adapting it though is a decided difficulty because there's no clear analoges. |
| Cooked_Auto01-25-06, 11:49 AM | Mind you, there are perhaps gonna appear som spoilers around now. AFAIK I know from playing the game (not that much. My comp tried to kill itself at Dantooine apparently) but why not take the main juice of the story. It could begins just as in the game on a ship that is being attacked from perhaps EC or some other malicious faction. And then with some talks with the PCs or perhaps even if they havent done a background be slightly evil and add a special power that they posses and the EC/Other factions seeks to have, or add an NPC that has this power. It's a shame I didnt get any further than Dantooine really. But this is probably the basic gist of it all. Then you could toss in a BBEG in the style of Darth Malak as the leader of the EC/Other faction. |

It occured to me that the drama of the storyline is something I'd personally like to recapture. Adapting it though is a decided difficulty because there's no clear analoges. I like the War of the Mark for that one. It's long before the events of "present-day" Eberron and much of what happened back then has become shrouded in myth. It had great Aberrant Mark lords of awesome power, possibly bolstered by artifacts, against the forces of the Dragonmarked Houses. Give them the ability to corrupt and change normal Dragonmarks into powerful Aberrant marks (with the cooperation of the markee) and you can start getting some really nice parallels. |
| MarkB01-25-06, 01:48 PM | I think you could make some good analogies in modern Eberron. Jedi = Kalashtar Sith = Inspired Fast-forward things by ten years or so. The Kalashtar have forged diplomatic links with several Khorvaire governments, and exposed the true nature of the Inspired. However, the Inspired have geared up their own publicity machine, and public opinion is broadly divided on who's telling the truth. The Inspired have made territorial inroads into the Lhazaar Principalities, and eastern Khorvaire, but in the face of this threat, the former Five Nations have banded together with Zilargo, Aerenal and Darguun in a loose Republic to try and push them back. As yet, it's not open war, but several significant engagements have occurred, mostly at sea. Taris = Sharn Pretty obvious, really. With all those towers, you couldn't put it anywhere else. Sharn had already been heavily infiltrated by the Inspired, and when Breland joined the Republic, Sharn seceeded into Inspired control. Many citizens of the Middle and Lower Wards protested, but the Inspired imposed martial law and interdicted travel with a naval fleet and commandeered airships. Dantooine = Aerenal The Kalashtar needed a base of operations close to Khorvaire, but remote from settled lands, in which to train their children in the ways of the Path of Light. They found such a place in rural Aerenal, setting up an enclave close to the town of Var-Shalas. It is to this enclave that the party flee in the commandeered airship Ebon Hawk. Nearby is a shrine with a strong connection to Khyber, in which the first of the ancient Fiendish devices is discovered that will lead to the quest across the disparate lands of Khorvaire and beyond. Tatooine = the Blade Desert Specifically some small, dangerous outpost city on the border between Valenar and the Talenta Plains. Kashyyyk = Eldeen Reaches Manaan = an artificial Sahuagin island-city in the Thunder Sea From which the Sahuagin trade Siberys Shards to both Khorvairan and Inspired vessels, from a rich deposit which fell millenia ago when that part of the sea bed was still above water and part of the Xen'drik mainland. Korriban = Q'barra Specifically, a recently-uncovered area of Q'barra containing many ancient temples from the Age of Demons. The Inspired have taken control of this area of Q'barra in order to explore the ruins. Star Forge planet = Xen'drik A lost valley in Xen'drik, protected by both powerful illusions and anti-divinations, and a form of dimensional suppression magic which disables elementals, causing elemental-powered airships to crash. Neither the giants nor drow ever discovered the place. In the centre of the valley lies the Dragon Forge, an immense floating structure built over a volcanic vent which runs all the way to the depths of Khyber. The Forge is an ancient Draconic weapon created during the Age of Demons, designed to channel power from an immense Khyber shard deep below into the creation of a variety of bound-elemental vessels, weapons and constructs. The dragons learned the secret of elemental binding and Creation Forges long ago, using them in the final centuries of the battle with the Rakshasa Rajahs, but kept their own discoveries secret from other races. The bound-elemental vessels and living constructs the Dragon Forge is capable of creating on a production-line basis are equal or superior to any warforged created by House Cannith and any airship created in Zilargo - if the Inspired get their hands on it first, they can create an army, and conquer Khorvaire in weeks. |

| Charles Phipps01-26-06, 04:08 PM | I don't think the Kalashatar honestly work for the Jedi Knights. Though you have some good ideas MarkB. The players have more or less agreed whom is going to be "the ex-Dark Lord" in the group, so its really a question of how to set up the action. I'm thinking that some threat needs to represent the Mandalorians and thus my opinion might be an invasion from Darguun or Droam (the later far less unlikely) or perhaps the Lord of Blades that's confronted by the Darth Revan Figure who turns out to be far worse than the enemy himself. The Starforge can just be replaced with a Forge in general ;-) |
| MarkB01-26-06, 04:53 PM | I don't think the Kalashatar honestly work for the Jedi Knights. Not entirely, but I think they come closer than any other group in Eberron. All about balance and self-discipline, gaining special mental powers through their unique connection to an immaterial force. The Quori spirits make a poor substitute for a universal energy field, but they do reflect the exclusivity of the Jedi. And for storyline purposes, their advantage is the existence of a ready-made group of evil-but-subtle world-conquerors to oppose them. I suppose the other alternative would be a monastic order dedicated to the Silver Flame, all of whom - like Paladins - hear the Voice of the Flame. For them, the Voice grants psionic abilities, which can only be honed through mental discipline. Some members of the order become seduced by the voice of the demon in the Flame, and turn to the darker side of the Flame's power. If you want to make things really dark, make the Valenar the Mandalorians. Their philosophy reflects the Mandalorian philosophy as described by Canderous quite closely. |

| Prince Indirian01-27-06, 07:11 AM | A shame they never finished the HK 50 storyline in KOTOR 2. Actually I think they are, however it is not official (although there were a lot of things, included in the game that enabled you to do it yourself, if you had the akills so to say) and is created by all those that love the game (the customers). There is a party of modders devoted to fixing the game (includiong all the bugs  , whom should have been there from the beginning). I forgot their name, but they are fairly wellknown for this project... |
