| InfinityStar805-03-07, 04:59 PM | From THIS (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20070503a) link you will find Lady Vol has a mini now. That also means 'offical' stats are being out on her card. Just wanted to get everyone else's thoghts on this. |
| allenchan05-03-07, 05:12 PM | My first impression is that mini looks terrible. :P |
| Nuclear_Buddha05-03-07, 05:18 PM | Yeah, that's um... some hat she's got there. <shrug> Also, why are her wings black? |
| Toloran05-03-07, 05:25 PM | Yeah, that's um... some hat she's got there. <shrug> Also, why are her wings black? I'm thinking because they are partially rotting. And yes, the hat is quite pimp'in. =P |
| Cifer05-03-07, 06:43 PM | Wait, isn't she supposed to be a wizard? |
| Leonidus05-03-07, 07:06 PM | Wait, isn't she supposed to be a wizard? Yeah, that was my thought too. Uh-oh. |
| Slayen05-03-07, 07:18 PM | That is one ugly mini. I think the incredibly phallic head dress is what really wrecks it for me. |
| bertman405-03-07, 07:26 PM | With no stats yet in the roleplaying game, we were free to come up with our own interpretation of the Lich Queen. It's not official stats for RPG. They're making it up. The mini is UGLY! Were they trying to emulate the Wayne Reynolds version gracing the cover of Faiths of Eberron? Bertman |
| InfinityStar805-03-07, 07:49 PM | It's not official stats for RPG. They're making it up. They would not let me post "Offically" with the quotations. I ment it as a joke saying; Lady Vol "Offically" stated out!!! I was trying to be funny but they ruined it for me. |
| Darkarcher73605-03-07, 08:07 PM | Ick. If Lady Vol is supposed to be so high and evil, why on earth is she wearing the Pope's hat?!? |
| Millenia05-03-07, 08:33 PM | Ick. If Lady Vol is supposed to be so high and evil, why on earth is she wearing the Pope's hat?!? She stole it from him and repainted it! And stole 40 cakes! 'Cause she's that evil! |
| Edymnion05-03-07, 10:01 PM | From THIS (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/mi/20070503a) link you will find Lady Vol has a mini now. That also means 'offical' stats are being out on her card. Just wanted to get everyone else's thoghts on this.DDM has nothing to do with D&D. Stats for it's minis are not considered official for the D&D game any more than Superman's stats on his heroclix are considered official D&D stats. And like was already said, we already have official standing on her being a wizard, not a sorcerer, so the mini is ALREADY wrong. Aka, ignore it, it has nothing to do with Eberron. |
| Leonidus05-03-07, 10:27 PM | Well, on the other hand, that COULD be the error of the reviewer. I sorta doubt it, since it's pretty obvious when looking at a card when a character is a sorcerer or not, but there's always a chance. |
| TheAnthroDM05-03-07, 10:42 PM | That's uhm... yeah.... uhm.... Better luck next time? Nice hat Vol. |
| InfinityStar805-03-07, 11:08 PM | DDM has nothing to do with D&D. And like was already said, we already have official standing on her being a wizard, not a sorcerer, so the mini is ALREADY wrong. Aka, ignore it, it has nothing to do with Eberron. I think I found another thing to add to the list of things to irritate Edymnion! Again, I ment the 'official' as a JOKE, lol. And don't you be hateing on my Superman. That's my boy! |
| ORC_Paradox05-04-07, 03:18 AM | Of course it's an ugly mini- it's supposed to be ugly. Hello? Lich, remember? Too many are spoiled on the sexy drow. |
| allenchan05-04-07, 04:55 AM | ...and wasnt Vol supposed to a child when she became undead, anyway? That looks like a fully adult woman to me. |
| Wizardman05-04-07, 07:35 AM | She stole it from him and repainted it! And stole 40 cakes! 'Cause she's that evil! No. No, no, no, no, no. It's terrible, not evil. She's that terrible. |
| Bluebrush05-04-07, 07:42 AM | ...and wasnt Vol supposed to a child when she became undead, anyway? That looks like a fully adult woman to me.I don't know if that's the case (Vol was transformed by her mother, but we don't know what age she was) but having one of the most badass liches on the planet be a pre-teen girl would be pretty cool. Oh but wait, the Silver Flame already has a superpowered kid. Damn. |
| shadowpavement05-04-07, 07:50 AM | Cause she's that evil! She also doesn't wash her hands after using the restroom. BWA HAA HAA HAA!!!! |
| InfinityStar805-04-07, 09:04 AM | ...and wasnt Vol supposed to a child when she became undead, anyway? That looks like a fully adult woman to me. Child by what stardard? For Elfs a child is till they are like what, 30? What about a Dragon, 200? She could be around 40 when she bacame a lich and was still called a child. But, by now she's older then most Great Wyrms so I think's she's grown up a little in that time. The Keeper of the Flamer however... |
| AgonA05-04-07, 09:27 AM | Well... I'm almost embarrased to say... but I kinda like the skulpt... (looking for cover now :P ) |
| SSj3goblin05-04-07, 09:41 AM | I don't think the mini looks that bad. Maybe it looks a little too cliché and big bad evil undead, but I have no problem with the hat. It looks kinda mayan/inca, just like the culture of the elves and the former giants of Xen'drik, both places where the blood of vol has its roots as a religious dogma. |
| Nuclear_Buddha05-04-07, 10:24 AM | I'll admit, I do like the Mesoamerican style there... but yeah, as a whole the mini is um... rather "meh." The "Big Bad Evil" was probably not the way to go. I've made my preferences on the matter of Vol clear before, but perhaps they wouldn't translate so well to a collectible miniatures game. Though that begs the question: does Erandis really belong as a DDM fig? I mean, do we need a Manshoon or Mordain the Fleshweaver fig? |
| InfinityStar805-04-07, 10:41 AM | Though that begs the question: does Erandis really belong as a DDM fig? I mean, do we need a Manshoon or Mordain the Fleshweaver fig? Do you need a colossal red dragon for a mini game? It's larger then my parents dog! |
| Hideous Phidias05-04-07, 10:53 AM | Why does she even have wings? Half dragons only get wings if they are large size I thought. |
| AntiSean05-04-07, 11:19 AM | It doesn't totally wow me like some other figures have, but I like it. I don't see a *need* for it, but as an Eberron fan and a casual DDM player, it's nice to see some representation for the setting there. I guess they felt the need to balance out some of the 'iconic' characters from their various settings. *shrug* |
| CannibalSmith05-04-07, 12:24 PM | Of course it's an ugly mini- it's supposed to be ugly. Hello? Lich, remember? Gentle Repose, Alter Self, Disguise Self, or just get a new body. I refuse to believe that liches prefer being ugly. |
| Bluebrush05-04-07, 12:47 PM | Remeber that some Aerenal like the whole "Dead for a good few months" look because it signifies that they do not care about fleeting mortal beauty and are prepared for undeath. If you just wanted a ticket to eternal life and youth you should become a vampire or, yes, find a lich salon. But Vol's got that whole "Queen of the dead" gig going on. That said, she really needs to ditch the hat. |
| CannibalSmith05-04-07, 12:52 PM | Right. I keep forgetting that Vol is from Aerenal. Never mind then. |
| Nuclear_Buddha05-04-07, 03:30 PM | Why does she even have wings? Half dragons only get wings if they are large size I thought. She's breaking other rules and is pretty unique anyway, so that doesn't trouble me so much. Actually, we should probably be grateful that there doesn't seem to be some kind of mechanic included for her non-fuctional Mark of Death. (Edit: Oh, crap. What if that's what her hinted-at commander effect is? :pbbbtt:) So why not some actual iconics? Like Baristi or something. |
| Deekin05-04-07, 03:47 PM | Do you need a colossal red dragon for a mini game? It's larger then my parents dog! Your parents have a tiny dog! Are you sure it's not some rodent? |
| Ashlock05-04-07, 04:03 PM | From that article, I think this is the real point: With no stats yet in the roleplaying game, we were free to come up with our own interpretation of the Lich Queen. So this is hardly the official Vol. Personally, I hope they don't stat out Lady Vol at any point. You gotta keep these mythic types mysterious....let DMs come up with their own. :) |
| InfinityStar805-04-07, 04:27 PM | Your parents have a tiny dog! Are you sure it's not some rodent? It is a rodent, a half Pekingese/Pomeranian dog. It's a large rat with a LOT of fur. |
| davethebrave37105-04-07, 04:45 PM | Wrong class, ridiculous hat and wings on a medium-sized half-dragon? This is Lady Vol under the effect of a polymorph spell to throw off the PCs. |
| Wizardman05-04-07, 07:20 PM | I like the hat. It's Kirby-esque. |
| Leonidus05-04-07, 11:40 PM | There's also that although they are wings, A) we have no idea if they're *functional* and B) there ARE feats in Races of the Dragon to give half-dragons and dragonblood races working wings. |
| SSj3goblin05-04-07, 11:50 PM | To all the wing haters: you have to remember that Medium sized character half dragons can get vestigial wings, remember *that (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/chainmail/set_3/Half-Dragon_Mage_xlg.jpg)* mini, from chainmail? |
| Kensan_Oni05-05-07, 02:54 PM | Why does she even have wings? Half dragons only get wings if they are large size I thought. It's the hat. It makes her a large critter. The second you knock off the hat, POOF! No wings. :D |
| Joni-san05-05-07, 05:52 PM | And stole 40 cakes! That's as many as four tens! |
| Bluebrush05-05-07, 08:33 PM | And that's terrible! |
| Count Nerindil Van Seraph05-05-07, 09:27 PM | Ick. If Lady Vol is supposed to be so high and evil, why on earth is she wearing the Pope's hat?!? Ah, the question that answers it's self. |
