how about a fighter using a long spear and leap/charging into combat...i've seen it here before but didn't find it feasible but ran into leap attack the other day in the complete book and loved it...

well now my shifter barbarian died and i have a chance to try it out...the biggest question i have is whether to play a fighter, a fighter/PW, and also a human or an Elan...

feats needed for success
power att: the build revolves around it
dodge: ac and to get to higher feats
mob: jumping over/around/through requires it
power lunge: 18 str = +4 dmg on charge (if i use 2handed is it 3???)
mental leap: +10 jump check = auto success on 20 ft standing long jump
Leap att: dmg by PA with max (5)- PA +7, +4 str, +8 lunge, +15 leap = 35 min dmg

not super powerful but if you get spring att you pretty much always get AoO too...

Other feats to add to fun:
cleave is an almost must with dmg output

powerful charge, g. powerful charge, powered weapon, g. powerful weapon = extra 4d6 dmg (but no mental leap)

stand still: you can't get me! (without reach that is)
combat reflexes: more AoO
deft strike: +4 on AoO

either option could be used instead of dodge, mob, spring

Human would let me get one of these other feats (cleave most likeley), and more skill points
Elan would give me extra coolness (no need for food/water, dr, more powerpoints, no getting charmed)

anything i missed or any suggestions???

Um, if you really want to be the damage monkey this way (and you should really post this question on the Character Optimization board (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=339)) then you should go the Frenzied Berserker route.

With Frenzied Berserker you'll be getting +4 damage/-1 to hit with a two-handed weapon; adding on the x3 from Leap Attack will then net you +12 damage/-1 to hit.

Then you can get the party wizard/artificer to make you a Valorous weapon (x2 damage on a charge). Since the LA and Valorous are technically multiplying different things (LA - Power Attack damage; V - total damage) you end up with +24 damage/-1 to hit on a charge. Get the sorcerer/wizard/artificer to cast lion's charge on you and you'll be making full attacks on said charges.

So assuming an human with 18 Strength starting off, +5 from levels, +5 inherent, a +6 item, and a +10 from frenzy, that's a total Strength of 44 in a frenzy, for a total modifier of +17. Since you can also rage to get more Strength, let's do that. So that's 50 Strength and a total modifier of +20. At this point you may as well PA for your entire BAB, so let's assume you do. That's then -20 to hit for a bonus to damage of +480, not including Strength damage, weapon damage, etc. Is that enough damage for you? Oh, and don't forget that with lion's charge you get all five attacks on each charge, so that's a possible 2000 damage in one round, assuming no critical hits.
