| Lujayne3401-18-05, 06:49 PM | The correct cost is : 5 sovereigns (silver pieces) per mile. The costs are listed on p. 121 ECSB |
| Isran_Imrador01-18-05, 07:02 PM | i think someone here at the forum made a table of the LR scheduel! i used it alot....dont remember were it was but if you seach you migth find it! |
| darkthought01-18-05, 07:49 PM | I personally thing 5sp a mile is a bit steep for most people. The rail was made to be used, so I'm pretty sure there's a "coach" class. This is how I break down my lightning rail cost: Coach Class: 5cp a mile (Think of a school bus on conductor stones. Cheap but uncomfortable. Basically a cargo car with benches.) Also access is restricted to the "Higher Class" coaches. Passenger (Adventurer) Class: 5sp a mile. Usually the more wealthy people, and adventurers travel in this class. I'd use the maps in the back cover of the "Whispers of the Vampire's Blade" module. Luxury Class: usually a privately owned coach used by diplomats and royalty. Can be rented for 5gp a mile. |

The Rail is mostly used for cargo. What few passengers there are usually have their tabs picked up by the organization they're working for. |

To be honest, i share Darkthought's point of view! For excanle a simple travel from Sharn to Wroat (around 500 miles) would cost 250 gold pieces! So if i'd like to travel there and back it's 500 gps alltogether! But these are cities of the same country! Quite near on the map... What would the cost be, if someone would like to travel to Farhaven, or even farar from Sharn? What i started to think about is how the hell is it possible to have so many wealthy people across Khorvaire after 100 years of war? So just look at p132 "Economic means" in Eberron Campaign setting... It says, that 10 percent of the population on the continent has "acces to a few thousands gold pieces at any given time"!!! To be honest i find it really hard to belive... After all, this is a huge amount of money, isn't it? Anyway about nick012000 wrote: The Rail is mostly used for cargo. Eberron Campaign setting, p125: "The king wanted a means to connect the farthest parts of the kingdom that could move people and goods quickly and efficiently" I don't thinks it's very efficient with these prices.... |
