| the_old_noob02-22-06, 02:25 PM | Ok, I have a problem. In the Eberron Explorer's Guide, page 20, is a nice chart of the distances between various stations. If I read it properly, the distance from Marketplace to Sword Keep is 331 miles. Now maybe I'm wrong, but by my measurements on a map, that distance is around 75 miles. If we take an example, Wroat to Sharn is listed as 212 miles. The map distance between these 2 cities is about 2.5x the distance from Marketplace to Sword Keep, and yet is listed as being less. Am I reading the chart on page 20 wrong? Or is the chart totally FUBAR? |

The official word is that the newer information supercedes and corrects the older information. If you'll notice in the ECS, Sharn to Wroat is like 450 miles. But ExH clearly states that it is 212 miles. It's a similar story for a lot of places between the map in ECS and the charts in ExH. So you decide. You can either use the bonus map to get distances, and figure out cost and time yourself and make your own chart, or you can just use ExH. I like a bigger world better, so I use the ECS info. But my players don't know the difference, and if you just use the prices from ExH, they'll just think they got a discount. |
| the_old_noob03-06-06, 01:39 PM | And what about the lightning rail stations in Karnnath, Mror Holds and Talenta Plains? Are these stations defunct, or are we not supposed to travel them over there? As a small aside, it appears that the lightning rail bridge from Thaliost to Rekkenmark is broken, so you can't actually travel from the west to the east unless you go through The Mourn Lands, but I don't know if the tracks there even work anymore. However, the old Cyre stops are listed, so maybe you can. |
| ekomega03-06-06, 01:53 PM | The Lightning Rail doesn't operate through the Mournland. One book even mentions a ghost train that was destroyed on the Day of Mourning that haunts the tracks. Another book (or the same book) mentions that the Lightning Rail is divided into an East/West line, since you can't go from the East to the West. |
| the_old_noob03-07-06, 01:45 PM | That's what I thought. Alas, the distances between the eastern stations aren't listed anywhere, and I'm not sure which maps to use to try to determine them anyway. |
