| TevolRia11-29-07, 12:37 PM | has anyone made a scale for its CR? I mean, if you were to encounter, say, a dead body that had cast living dragonmark on themselves and then found a way to make it permenant. what kind of CR would you give different living dragonmarks? would they be deserving of getting the dragonmarks spell like abilityies? perhaps being able to use dragonmarked feats that the original person had? |
| larry_the_titan11-29-07, 01:00 PM | At the moment I don't know where the living dragonmark spell is but it creates an effect simular to a living spells 'spell effect' the CR for the encounter would vary depending on the power of the creature and the DC to save against the effect. Once I get back books at home I would be will to help make a creature like this. Once I know more of course. |

Once I get back books at home I would be will to help make a creature like this. Once I know more of course. It's found in Dragonmarked. I plan on them finding one of these upon there return to Khorvaire. there will be a dead body in an ally, and as they approach the mark will then reveal itself and attack. this will be their frst encounter with this kind of creature. this is under the ussumption that they investigate the body... |
| Nived11-29-07, 04:04 PM | Oh that's a pain to CR there are so many variable stats. Damage is dependant on the power of the dragonmark (least/lesser/greater/siberys), as is its hit points, and its AC is dependant on the Charisma of the caster, Its very... variable. Wow I never noticed its immune to acid, cold, electricity, fire, positive, and negative energy. Hrmmm.... |
| larry_the_titan11-29-07, 07:32 PM | What is the level of the party at the moment. Depending on that will determine whether its powerful enough as a stand alone monster. At the moment I think a Living Siberys might make an alright CR 3-5 depending on its AC. |

To do that Increase the HD to 10 to 12 and increase the size to large. Also since the creature is now permanent add on the effect of the sentry ooze template from dungeonscape. What all of that does is change the creature from what might be a CR 3 or 4 to having stats like this. Str 26 Dex 22 Con -- Int 2 Wis 21 Cha 20 AC 10 base -1 size +6 dex +5 deflection (Now based off the Cha of the creature) for a 21 Flat footed 14 Touch 21 The base AC is equal to that of a Large Frost giant another CR 9. The slam Attack for this beast should be 2d6+12 force damage. Since it still doesn't have a Con score the creature is technically not living and should be treated like a spell effect with a mind of its own. So hear is the new Cheat sheet for the creature. ------------------------------- Greater Living DragonMark CR 9 N Large Ooze Init +6 Sense Blindsight 60 ft ---------------------- AC 21 Flat 14 Touch 21 HD 10 HP 85 DR 15/Magic Immune Acid, Cold, Electricity, Fire, Sonic, Positive and Negative Energy, Gaze Attacks, Visual Effects, Illusions, Poison, sleep, paralysis Polymorph, Stunning, criticals, flanking, Ability damage, Ability drain, Energy drain, Fatigue, Exhaustion, and Nausea Fort +3 (doesn't make the roll unless the effect works on object or is Harmless Refl +9 Will +8 (+4 vs mind effects) -------------------- Fly speed 60 (Perfect) Melee Force Slam +14 (2d6+12 Force damage) Base +7 Grp +19 Abilities Str 26 Dex 22 Con -- Int 2 Wis 21 Cha 20 -------------------- Improved Grab: can attempt to Grapple on successful Slam attack as a free action Constrict: on successful Grapple does force slam damage to target, doesn't work on Huge or larger creatures. If you have any questions just ask. I am sure you want to how I got a lot of my numbers. And as WotC says I can't say the creature is really a CR 9. |
| larry_the_titan11-30-07, 04:23 PM | I forgot to mention now that it isn't mindless, it now has 13 skill points and 4 feats to pick. Climb, Hide, Listen and Move Silently are considered class skills. Have fun. |
| TevolRia12-04-07, 12:57 PM | I do not have Dungeonscape. |
| larry_the_titan12-04-07, 08:14 PM | You don't have to have it I gave you all the numbers that you have to deal with already crunched. All you have to do is spend some skills points and choose some Feats. The sources of all of the number don't really matter unless you really want to back track where the numbers came from. Mainly all I did was up the HD increase and the size for stat improvement and tacked on part of the Sentry Ooze template to give it an interesting battle. If I had just added the template and the size mod. The creature would have Natural armor and Spell resistance. Neither of which are needed. |

| ieattrollsforbreakfast12-10-07, 07:36 AM | If you're looking for a living dragonmark designed as a stand alone monster rather than a spell, I created a template for that a while back (apparently more than 2 and a half years ago...wow, doesn't time fly!). It's quite similar to the living spell, but has a few extra tricks of its own. You can see the stats on the Eberron Bestiary, here: http://www.eberronbestiary.com/livingdragonmark.html That page includes a ready made Living Greater Mark of Shadow, and you can find another ready made, elite one (a half-fire elemental fiendish greater living dragonmark of sentinel called the Sentinel Flame) here: http://www.eberronbestiary.com/features/BEdragonmark.html |

I like the design. though something occured to me yesterday: wouldn't they inhereit the feats that modify dragonmarks? such as mark of madness or dragonmark prodigy. |
