I purchased the Complete Adventurer yesterday, and after reading the Animal Lord PrC entry, one word struck me — Tarzan. And of how little effort it would be to adapt the backstory to Eberron, or to create an adventure scenario that takes my PCs to Xen'drik where they encounter the heir of Greystroke. Tarzan could be a member of the royal family of Galifar, or part of one of the Dragonmarked houses (the later being the better of two as a means of explaining his dominance of that troop of apes). I think it would make a fun alternative to the hostile Drow natives cliché that seems to have permeated Xen'drik, and an entertaining diversion from the campaign storyline for my players...

why didn't the drow kill him or the giants that are left
that dude would have to be pretty high level character
plus one must remember that Xen'drik is a hundred times more dangerous than your average jungle

Common sense, really. The drow don't populate every square inch of Xen'drik. If you've ever read Tarzan, his first encounter with another human being doesn't occur until he wanders far from his home and runs across a tribe of natives. In keeping with the character, he lives in an area where there aren't any humanoids.
Second, having been raised by animals, he will have adopted their survival techniques. Plus with his human intelligence, he can easy invent other techniques or improve upon those of the animals. Tarzan learned to read and invented weapons without outside help.
He wouldn't have to be a high level character either. As stated above, he will have learned how to survive from the apes and watching other animals. Simply a matter of knowing and avoiding. Further, he's Lord of the apes. In a tight spot, he's got a tribe of apes to join any fight he might find himself in.
A cool idea Zalaz, by the way. When I read the PrC, I thought of the Leopard Queen from The Maxx...

This Tarzan must also manifest the Mark of Handling, or I shall know why, and there will be much screaming and begging for death.

Well, since his name's Greystroke, he should be pretty good at handling...

(Zalaz: It should be Greystoke, if you wish to avoid sniggers from the back row.)

Many thanks. I was typing faster than I was thinking...

Zalaz, do you actually physically have the book? I just looked over at Amazon, and it lists the publication date for the Complete Adventurer as February 5th. What gives? Not to mention that it is supposed to be released this month, which begs the question: Why is it listed as a February release?

Picked it up Friday, which was the release day. Places like Amazon and B&N always list the release day later than reality as they don't know ahead of time when the true release will be. But if you're curious about the book, there is quite a lot of material that fits Eberron perfectly. In fact, that same material reads like they had Eberron in mind when they created it. If anything recommends CAv, it's the first non-Eberron D&D book I've purchased since the three core books...

Thanks much. Hopefully that means that Grasp of the Emerald Claw has been released too.

Looks like I have another book to order next week. :dancin:
