| thought_riot11-10-06, 04:11 PM | Okay. So, I'm planning on running the Queen of the Burning Eyes adventure, starting my group at level 1. At late level 5/level 6, I'm going to run the Expedition to Castle Ravenloft adventure. I'm wondering if there are any 2-5 level published adventures (preferably online) that I can run to bridge the gap. |

I just used a variantion on Salvage Operation (one of the most tightly constructed and DM-friendly adventures ever, by the way) and will be using the eberron specific Fallen Angel (tinkered with it a bit to make it fit the sweep of my campaign and had to re-work some NPC's and all, but a good adventure none-the-less) soon, eventually to follow up with tension rising and the Shards of Eberron adventures, interspersed with a few that I have produced on my own to keep the PCs on track with the campaign. I may use Wingclipper's Revenge set in the Eldeen amongst the fringes of Greensingers territory as well... that one will take some adapting, but it BEGS for Eberron.... |

I generally like the Ministry of Winds from wizards.com, but integrating it is troublesome at best. Picking up a few dungeon magazines should give you lots of inspiration, such as "Within the Circle"* a perfect adventure for 1st level characters, easily usable up to level 3 without significant changes, add in a few traps and a few more enemies and it can be used up to level 5. Begin adding in sadistic traps and it can be used forever. * Dungeon Magazine #130; you travel to this goblin lair in a covert manner, at the order of a local baron and you have to "clean it out" to uncover the clues he sent you there to find, later finding yuan-ti artifacts, which they suggest can be the start of a new adventure. |

Make the obelisk an ancient outpost from the Age of Demons, which explains the presence of a certain NPC inside... It's easy to place the obelisk on any prominent hillside, affording the watcher a good view of a populated valley. With a preponderance of ancient Dhakaani ruins about Khorvaire, most people won't think to question the structure's origin. From there, you just have to decide who wants the Sceptre of the Clouds back (it could have been stolen from a University, from a House Lyrandar enclave, or jsut from a private collector). To make it specifically Eberron, replace one of the members of the Ministry with a zakya rakshasa (a former inhabitant of the obelisk) and change the cleric's spell list to reflect either the Cults of the Dragon Below or one of the Dark Six. When the party meets Ssixx (or whatever his name is), make it clear that he has been there for quite a while, and that he does not care one whit for the "new neighbors." However, as a being of Law, he is here to do his job and has neither the time nor inclination to evict them. Keep this conversation very very brief, because he has work to do! If the party tallies in his chamber, he will chase them out, then use his spell-like abilities to escape back into the room and bar the door. (Come to think of it, giving him a level of Wizard with spells like unseen servant and summon monster I would work as well, allowing him to chase them out and bar the door without getting up from his seat!) |
