Another annoying person asking another question about the effects of moons in Eberron upon lycanthropes. As a disclaimer, I did ctrl+f [lycanthrope] thru Mr. Bakers FAQ, but my question wasn't clearly answered.

While I understand that lycanthropes have to make transformation checks more often due to the dozen moons that can be full on any given night, does that in turn make it easier for a 5th level cleric w/ Remove Curse to cure an afflicted were-creature as the requirement says that it has to be done "during one of the three days of the full moon." ?

There was some mention of an afflicted lycanthrope being tied to the moon of the month of affliction. There was also a mention of all lycanthropes being tied to Lamannia's moon, but I can't find a clear moon-Lamannia connection.

Thanks for any help.

Have Fun.

This came up in a discussion I had with my friends, and the general rule we wound up using is that for our DM’s and players sanity was that a lycanthrope bound his/her cycle to only one of the moons, to keep with the flavor of having multiple moons we also ruled that this moon was the next one to become full regardless of the infecting lycanthrope. In this case I would say that remove curse would only work during the full moon of whatever moon (s)he was linked too.

Alternately, if you wanted to run it so that any full moon would force a change, I would also say that Remove curse would work during any full moon.

My only advice is to be consistent. If were-creatures are transformed during the 19 full moons of the month, then the spell should work during the same time.

If they are afflicted only during one moon, then the spell only works then.

I'd be reluctant to allow only one moon, as certain moons are full more often than others, and it'd be tricky to deal with.

In the ECS is said that every month have a Dominant moon. You could say that the lycanthrope follow the dominant moon of the month when he was infected (or born, for natural lycanthropes)

According to Keith Baker (though I'm afraid I can't track down a quote), lycanthropes are affected by all the moons, and it stands to reason that they could be cured on any night that makes them change. Note, however, that if the curse has taken hold mentally (and with all the transformations prompting increasingly difficult will saves, it's almost impossible to last even a month), the afflicted character will probably deliberately fail the saving throw granted by remove curse or break enchantment. I suppose you could get him to try with an incredible Intimidate or Bluff check or with dominate person, but for the latter I'd at least consider "let us cure your lycanthropy" an order contrary to the subject's nature. Furthermore, the following excerpt from the relevant Dragonshard seems to indicate that even a successful remove curse won't necessarily set everything right:

For an afflicted lycanthrope, this mental transformation is permanent. Even the strongest will crumbles before the supernatural power of the disease -- and only magical effects such as miracle or atonement can restore the former personality of the victim.

Kind of makes you want to pick fresh belladonna every week, doesn't it?
