Hi all- I'm starting a single player campaign with a friend through email, and although I haven't worked out the fine points of the plot yet, I'm working off the general idea presented below, inspired by conversation on these boards a few months back. I'd apreciate any suggestions/insights you can provide me with.

The Story:
- In the final years of the last war, House Vadallis and House Deneith, alarmed by the sucess of House Cannith’s warforged, joined in a top secret project to create the ideal living soldier. Using Vadallis magebreeding techniques and Deneith millitary know-how, the project progressed rapidly.
- With the compromise of House Deneith by the Dreaming Dark, the Quori infiltrated the project, subtley influencing the path of research and development to tap into hitherto unsuspected psionic potential in top candidates, and providing the Dreaming Dark with untold influence over the soldiers who seemed destined to become the backbone of Khorvairian armies.
- With the end of the last war, agents of the compromised Vadallis/Deneith project aproached King Boranel- promising him sole rights to the first generation of super soldiers if he would advocate the cease of Warforged production in the upcomming treaty of Thronehold. Boranel, after whitnessing a project 'weapons test', was all to eager to comply, and in a mater of months, the production of further warfroged was baned.
- Now in a position to dominate the mercenary trade in the inevitabale resurgence of the last war, the Dreaming Dark bides its time, and watches as its labor bears friut- the 24th generation of supersoldiers; stronger, faster, and smarter than humans, and more suceptible to psionic manipulation than any lifeforms save the Empty Vessels.

Heres where the protagonist comes in:
Boranel dies of a sudden stroke (engineered by the dreaming dark)- and Breland is thrown into chaos as liberal factions seek to establish a democracy rather than allow the monarchy to continue. IN panic, the heir to the thrown deploys the 24th generation of supersoldiers to several hot stops of revolutionary activity- perticularly Sharn, where they will serve to assasinate radical leaders.

However, the Sharn-bound Airship is ambushed en rout by an as yet undetermined faction, and in the resulting explosion, the protagonists, Unit 24-601 is inflicted with amnesia.

Now trapped on a damaged airship flying at dangerous speeds over the Mournland, our protagonist awakens with no knowledge of who or what he is....

Are you using the standard template for the Magebred human or one of the many psionic templates?

I'm using the standard template with a few tweeks-

*To help balance it and to represent the psionic conditioning secretly adminsitered by the DD agents- theres a -3 penalty to saves versus psionic mind affecting powers.

*I'm representing the magebred animal's high int by giving the humanoid template a +2 int.

* For flavor's sake (these are essentialy being bred to be biological weapons)- the favored class of magebred humans is soulknife instead.

Other than that, basicaly the same template,

I LOVE this idea. Very pulp, very noir, and very interesting. Well done:clap:

Ohh, thats a nice idea!

For people like me who fancy piking these sort of ideas what sort of LA would you give this for a campaign where not all of the chracters are gentically enhanced killers?

Do you think +2 LA would be suitable or is it just pushing the +1 boundary?

Dang, I may just snag this myself, since my group is fighting in Riedra right now.
A secret DD hitsquad in the five nations perhaps...

I only see one problem with it. That is 24th generation in humens is alot longer period of time then it is in animals(about 240 years if you breed them at the age of ten). The solution is simple though either the project was started at the beginging of the war. Or one of the things they did was really sped the development rate of of humens. Which would mean these super-soldiers would have a very short life span.

Though the Dreaming Dark connection is very nice, since they pretty much bred what is known as there Empty Vessels.

My personal take of King Boranel wouldn't do that but hey it is your game.

Altogether a very sound idea.

Hit the nail on the head. I can't wait to see the look on my player's face when he finds out that his eight year lifespan is already half over :evillaugh.

Wow I'm glad to see you all like it- I haven't gotten very far yet, but my player seems to be enjoying himself- hasn't really even figured out what he is yet- but that will all come in time.

Shimura: In my views, the template is borderline +3 la, I threw in the -3 to will saves vs psionics to try to keep it within the confines of +2.

If it would please everyone, I can post a sample of the character's stats at the start of the game, so you can get an idea of what my supersolidiers are capable of.
