Making The Most of Least Dragonmark [Archive] - Wizards Community

My character has a Least Dragonmark of Passage (dimension leap) and I'm looking for ways to make it more useful without taking the Dragonmark Heir prestige class.

What I've found so far:

Feat - Quicken Dragonmark - Magic of Eberron 51
Feat - Swiftness of Orien - Player's Guide to Eberron 48

Quicken Dragonmark might be fun (*bamf*!) but feats are precious and it's still only 1 use per day.

Item - Dragonshard Resevoir - Eberron Campaign Setting 260
Item - Dragonmark Scepter - Races of Eberron 173
Item - Dragonmark Rod - Magic of Eberron 113
Item - Quicken Channeling Rod - Eberron Campaign Setting 260

The Dragonmark Rod doesn't seem worth it when I only have a least mark. The Quicken rod is a bit more reasonable but still a bit of overkill unless I can get more uses. Also, any idea why the Resevoir is so much more expensive than the Scepter? They seem to provide the same benefit.

There has to be more options out there - please share!

I've got just the prestige class for you!

You can get the Lesser and Greater Dragonmark feats even if you don't take the Dragonmarked Heir class, it's just a lot slower and more feat-expensive if you do.

And I may be wrong, but can't the Empower/Maximize/Quicken Spell-like Ability feats from the Monster Manual be applied to Dragonmark abilities?

They would, but the issue is that those feats have a minimum caster level for the spell-like abilities. Getting a high enough caster level for those abilities might be hard without taking levels in the Dragonmarked Heir PrC.

That prestige class looks like fun, I'll keep that link for future reference.

I'll get one new feat next time I get a level which I could spend on enhancing my dragonmark. Taking a dragonmark-enhancing prestige class is not really an option though, I have other plans for this character.

Quicken spell-like ability might work, but Quicken Dragonmark does the job and is easier to qualify for. As far as I can tell dimension leap would not benefit from extend, maximize or empower, but I'm no rules guru.

Items seem to be my best bet (with perhaps one feat) since I mostly just want to get my "money's worth" from the Least Dragonmark feat rather than make it a central focus for the character. There doesn't seem to be a lot out there though. Maybe the new dragonmark book will help.

I'm pretty new to the game so there's lots I don't know though. Keep those suggestions coming!
