| Hardhead06-10-04, 02:29 PM | I saw these mentioned in another thread. What are they? |
| ieattrollsforbreakfast06-10-04, 02:37 PM | Manifest zones are areas of the material plane that have some sort of permanent connection with another plane of existence. For example, Sharn lies in a manifest zone connected to the Azure Sky (I think), which makes levitation magic more powerful and stops those huge towers from falling down. |

If the connection to Syrania is needed to support the towers, wouldn't something rather catastrophic happen when the plane becomes remote? |

Are manifest zones permanently linked to other planes or are they the places where coterminous planes manifest themselves? How the planes could at the same time be permanently and periodically linked to the material plane? A possibility might be that Syrania moves very slowly, which could have allowed the city to be built over time... Syrania doesnt seem to be moving fast on the animation provided on Wizard's website, but it doesn't seem slow either... and I don't know if it's in terms of days, months or years... how old is Sharn anyway? Could anyone with the ECSB shed some light on these questions? ... and maybe reveal a little more about eberron's cosmology and it's link to history btw? :) thx |

Manifest zones exist outside of the regular cycle of the planes. In a sense, a manifest zone is a region in which the plane is always considered to be either coterminous or remote, although the effects can be more unusual than the normal effects of the planar cycle. |

And that my friends is a thousand times cooler than wild magic and dead magic zones, IMO! |

Reminds me a bit of Birthright, and how the Shadow World connected at certain places with the Prime on a regular basis...like in a graveyard, or a hollow tree, etc. Banshee |
| ForcedEvolution06-12-04, 02:55 AM | Ohhh, how awesome this is... I felt the same way when I first read about the cosmology of the planes. This adds many elements to simple dungeon crawl and gives a logical reason for some oddities encountered throughout the world. Manifest Zone belonging to Xoriat that warps Psionic Powers, and a forest with a Manifest Zone linked to the realm of faeries (ever see Record of Lodoss Wars). I just hope that their will be a future supplement talking about the Eberron Cosmology in great detail... kinda like a planar handbook, specificly for Eberron... we after the Khorvaire source books of course (City of Sharn, Thrane, and the such) I guess manifest zones also result in dead magic zone too huh... |
