Otherwise:

1. Go to Google (http://www.google.com/webhp?hl=en)
2. Select "advanced search"
3. Find results with all of the words "Mark of Death"
4. Under domain enter "boards1.wizards.com"
5. Be prepared to look through the 12,000+ threads about the Mark of Death.

A question like this comes up twice or more a month. The real ability of the Finger of Death is to have people new to the boards ask this question.

Anyway, as long as it's reasonably balanced compared to the other (non-Aberrant) dragonmarks, it'll be fine. What you have written there looks fine. Note that, due to flavor reasons, it may have something to do with the undead as well. (To the best of my knowledge - Faiths of Eberron isn't out yet - House Vol was know for creating undead, rather than killing elves.)

The Mark of Death is extinct, and would grievously offend the Undying Court if it ever came back.

09-10-06, 04:37 PM Yes, it should always be remembered that if the Mark of Death ever showed up again, it would immediantly be descended upon by both the elves and the dragons. Having two of the most powerful threats on the face of the planet wanting you dead, immediantly (if not sooner!) is not a "good thing".

Wait, why would either of those factions care? To the elves the blood was always a little weird, but ignored for the most part, and with the dragons, who knows what the prophesy says about the Mark of Death.

As I understand it, no one cares about the mark or the religion, it was the cross-breeding that had everyone after Erandis.

Even if there aren't any dragons currently living that were alive back then, the Undying Court will have members from that time.

It would be a great big beacon that "Hey, you left the job unfinished!"

As for the Dragons and the prophesy, well, the prophesy didn't seem to stop them when they helped with the initial genocide, so its equally possible that it says that the Mark of Death is *SUPPOSED* to be gone for good, and they realize that its not easy to wipe out every last individual with the potential for the mark to manifest on, so they just come down on anyone they find with ties to it, just to be sure.

And remember, the other elves hated House Vol. There is no reason to think that, after millenia of thinking the negative powered undead house was gone and being happy with positive powered undead that they would suddenly not care when it popped back up.

Even if the Dragons didn't get involved, you would still have the Undying Court trying to wipe you out.

The closest analogy I can think of (which I know somebody is going to pick apart, because it isn't perfect, but its close enough to make my point), it would be like somebody putting on a Nazi uniform and parading through downtown Isreal.

09-11-06, 12:35 PM I think it'd be more like someone coming forward, with undeniable proof, saying that he was Hitler's son. And then him trying to become the President of Germany (or Israel). And his platform for the elections was the same as the Nazi party in the middle 1940's.

Lots of people would just try and assassinate him. Even if he had no chance to get anywhere in life (much like Erandis).

09-11-06, 09:00 PM Yeah, the bottom line is that House Vol was hated by a lot of people because of what they stood for. The elves were just looking for an excuse to turn on them, and the whole Erandis thing was just what they were looking for.

The elves have not changed their stance on postively powered undead, and if anything, they have grown even more fanatical about it.
