Nautilus 01-29-07, 08:58 PM	You get to make up your own MoD. It's like the cause of the Mournland, completely up to personal interpretation. If you don't want to invent your own, I'm sure you could find what other DMs have invented for the MoD, with a little searching.

(Psi)SeveredHead 01-30-07, 06:46 PM	You could have the Mark of Death deal with undead instead. The Priests of Transition create unliving, the House of Vol created undead. No wonder the two groups hated each other! Most people in Eberron are low-level. Any mark that gives you Slay Living is scary to like 90% of the population. (According to the non-canon novels, little girls can manifest the mark, suggesting it "breaks" the game balance rules by giving you Slay Living multiple times a day at less than 5th-level.) Even an NPC with the mark wouldn't be much fun (yes, it can kill you, provided it gets close enough and survives for a round...); I guess it could be a template, since it seems more powerful than the other marks.

But where is it stated that the MoD was a "passive" one? There's a reason it was destroyed, it was probably the most dangerous and powerful mark ever.
Kassil 01-30-07, 10:29 PM	Use Google and type in "Mark of Death" least lesser - it'll give you a huge mass of boards material to toy with, and you might also find the thread where Save-vs-DM's links to the sketches of the least/lesser/greater/Siberys Marks of Death are.

I was under the impression that the House of Vol being wiped out wasn't about the Mark. Dragons and elves alike were offended by the crossbreeding that produced Erandis. The MoD just made it easier to identify (and kill) members of the offending house.
