| RiotGearEpsilon07-12-04, 02:01 AM | I want to run Maure Castle. I want to try out Eberron. Any suggestions for how to make Maure Castle fit Eberron? I'm thinking it could fit nicely in Karrnath. |
| Shadis07-12-04, 10:37 AM | How about either placing it in the Mournlands, as something that survived the devistation, or placing it in Xen'drik as some anceint, and powerful, Giant's abode. |
| ENHenry07-12-04, 11:39 AM | Actually, I would place it on the edge of Droaam or Darguun as an old Goblin-hold of ancient Goblin Arcane Might. Then, this nutcase Formerly of the Emerald Claw named Elias Tomorast steps in, having been corrupted by a Rakshasa who tempted him into grafting Demon-hands on his body for temporal power, in exchange for his sanity and his soul, and you have the makings of a nasty adventure.... You can even throw your players a curveball replace the Description of the Terrible Golem, and make it look like a Warforged Titan... :) After all, Tomorast forged that one, too... |
| Kesh07-12-04, 09:10 PM | "Haunted castles" are a classic fantasy trope. As such, it fits just about anywhere in Khorvaire. Perhaps the PCs are hired to retrieve a specific object from the ruins, as no one else is brave enough. They're given the key and some sketchy info about the place: a few scavengers, many never came back, yadda-yadda-yadda. Either pick one of the treasures to be their goal, or put in something specific to Eberron. You could also replace a few monsters with Eberron monsters of the same EL. |
| RiotGearEpsilon07-13-04, 11:32 AM | Maure Castle: Maure Castle was a small, long-thought abandoned hold on the border between Karrnath and Cyre once tasked with maintaining the border. During the Last War, the Twelve investigated the land beyond the Unopenable Doors in search of the ancient magic treasures supposedly found therein, and destroyed Eli Tomorast and his servants upon discovering their collaboration with demonic forces in an insane bid to capture most of southern Karrnath and northern Cyre as an outpost for the Lords of Dust. Elias Tomorast: Elias Tomorast is a depraved Karrnathi wizard in the service of the Lords of Dust. Yug-Anark: Yug-Anark is an insane priestess of the Fury, who I'm changing to Chaotic Evil. Mordenkainen: Replace with The Twelve. Arley the Weaver: He's from Droaam. The Terrible Iron Golem: This is clearly a Xen'Drik construction, similar in some ways to the Warforged, though it has been altered cosmetically to more suit The Cult of Silver Dreams: Instead of being send to the Astral, they're catapulted to Dal-Quor, but it'll work out the same. The Cult of the Purple Stone: The Purple Stone is from Xoriat. The Seekers: Replace these with servants of the Lords of Dust. The Claws of Yeenoghu: Devotees to the Fury. |
| eigch07-13-04, 11:57 AM | I was actually going to try doing the same thing. Instead of the Maure family I was going to make it the ancient elven family that bore the dragonmark of death. All of the other ideas on this thread are awsome |
| Zaran07-13-04, 07:29 PM | My GM considered modifying Maure's Castle for insertion into an Eberron campaign but ultimately decided against it since the NPC levels in the module are considerable. |
| RiotGearEpsilon07-13-04, 10:31 PM | I've consciously decided not to care about that. |
